John, I notice that you anchor on one end and then stretch from left to right. On another video of yours, for the low back, you split the backing in the middle and apply it from the middle on out. Is there a reason for the different method?

Hurt myself while lifting (maybe a sprain) in my lower back. I've been going to the chiropractor for stretching and adjustments, would you recommend this for me? Or is there a different tape pattern that would be more effective? (my pain recently moved from the center to the right of my lower back)
this is mo4e like treating back pain symptoms not the problem or conditions . btw this is useless unless u fix theroblem. massages and heating pads only relaxes but doesn't not fixes anything . pls we need x rays and MRI s in order to find out more not just guessing with ur eyes
Is this essentially giving you stronger "ligaments & tendons" over those areas? Or WHAT IS it doing? I had L3-L5 fused 13 years ago and, thus, developed SI joint Dysfunction & spinal stenosis. My back pain is intolerable when I sit for more than 30-60 minutes in a chair that's not soft, like my couch or a recliner. I had to stop working after 2 years of doing the daily routine. I couldn't stand it anymore, LITERALLY. I'm working on strengthening my core NOW but would LOVE ANYTHING that'd help the pain in the meantime. I'm thin, with curves, a lil smaller than your model but not much, but my muscles are completely atrophied after 2 yrs of doing NOTHING, due to the pain. I had 12 surgeries bc of the wreck (115mph head on collision with drunk driver) & I never took pain meds after my surgeries but THIS pain is worse than ALL my surgeries combined. It's like bones grinding into nerves, from what I understand. Nothing I've felt before. I've tried every gadget out there. Do you think this tape would REALLY help??? I don't mind the pain from P.T. I just wanna get better ASAP. Bless & Thx
Most KTape applications is without stretch because it is the tissue of the body that is under some preload stretch, however I like to add some stretch to the tape when treating lower backs, i find it helps my patients more than no stretch....not really sure why that is but it is currently working for me..Hope that helps JG
You can if you are able to place your arms behind your lower back and clamp the fingers of both your hands together. First, open one end of the tape and place it on one side of the infected area. Next stretch the tape at 100% and then loosen to 80% to the other side with your other hand. With your opposite hand, rub the tape to the middle of your back then with your other hand rub down the reminding tape to the back. It's awkward and I do have Arthur in my shoulders but I manage to do it.
Hi John, thank you for your time . I don't use and I totally forgot forgot about leukotape since I've started to use kinesiology tape. How about if I apply the kt on second port "the beige colour" with no starch instead ?Ali
Hi John, thanks for the video. I was wondering would it be wrong to apply the second part of the taping on whose patient with over lordosis as it create more lumbar extension when you stretch the tape.Ali
The taping technique i show can help reduce symptoms to most of patients with back pain. If you wanted to prevent flexion or extension of the lumbar then a Leukotape with a base layer of micropore tape is required as doesn't have any stretch and KTape generally has about 150-180% stretch. Good luck. JG
Jordan Davies It DOES. BUT you have to rub it hard & deep & from the middle (the "plump" part) towards the sides. The glutes...or toosh....have tons of muscles that criss cross all the way to your hips & fibula so there's LOTS to rub. LOL. They cross over the sciatic nerves & when those muscles are tight they irritate the nerves and it HURTS A LOT LOT!!!!! Sex helps with flexibility too so it's a great tool as well!! lmfao I'm SERIOUS! I AM!! I've had a lumbar spinal fusion for 13 years (drunk driver hit me head on @ 115mph) so I'm "BASICALLY" a pro on the subject. If anyone asks, you can tell them you got the above information from a professional. Hahaha!!! ;) Good luck!

If I have bulging discs at L4 and L5 on the right side of my back, do I apply tape across the entire low back? Or am I focusing only on the right side? Also, in general, do you place the tape directly over the place of pain, or above and below? Thanks.
+John Gibbons -- Hey John, thanks for the reply! I will try this, as you demonstrate in the video. Other thing I was curious about is, in general, does the tape typically go OVER the area of pain, or above and below, to sort of anchor around it? Thanks!
You might consider approving your comments given the amount of inappropriate comments directed at your patient. She probably doesn't want that, and anyone actually watching this for it's content will be put off.
To create that space you are talking about you should apply the tape in a different way.. The tape should be applied with 0% tension on the stretched skin. The technique you have used compress the area, not decompress.
+Murray Collier Hi Murray, I usually say that it causes a lift to the skin which creates a space and this allows the passage of the lymphatic tissue that reduces the swelling and subsequent pain. Hope that helps....
+John Gibbons Great work. Thank you for these videos. Have you ever tried Mobility Tape? We have applied a heating agent to the tape that works quite well. MT comes in regular kinesiology tape and heated.

Bravo, once again on the videos. Simply brilliant.
If the spondylolisthesis is a grade 1 or 2 slippage then it might help reduce the pain but that is all. If its a grade 3/4 then you will probably need stabilisation but depends on your consultant. It is worth trying the technique if you have pain.
