Create tar archives

42 ratings | 654 views
We now take o look at using GNU tar to create archives, or file backups. This is with the --create or -c option. Learning tar is useful as many files are distributed via the web as archives as well as you being able to mange large amounts of files as single units. Many exams will expect you to know how to use tar for backups and file recovery Additionally you can find my video courses on Pluralsight: http://pluralsight.com/training/Authors/Details/andrew-mallett and take time to see my own site http://www.theurbanpenguin.com

Exactly. I don't work with Linux desktops only servers. So the Ubuntu host was connected to from the OS X Client. OS X it self only has bad tar and not gnu tar
