Using Personalization to Improve XML Retrieval

06:47
As the amount of information increases every day and the users normally formulate short and ambiguous queries, personalized search techniques are becoming almost a must. Using the information about the user stored in a user profile, these techniques retrieve results that are closer to the user preferences. On the other hand, the information is being stored more and more in an semi-structured way, and XML has emerged as a standard for representing and exchanging this type of data. XML search allows a higher retrieval effectiveness, due to its ability to retrieve and to show the user specific parts of the documents instead of the full document. In this paper we propose several personalization techniques in the context of XML retrieval. We try to combine the different approaches where personalization may be applied: query reformulation, re-ranking of results and retrieval model modification. The experimental results obtained from a user study using a parliamentary document collection support the validity of our approach.

Coding With Python :: Learn API Basics to Grab Data with Python

19:23
Coding With Python :: Learn API Basics to Grab Data with Python This is a basic introduction to using APIs. APIs are the "glue" that keep a lot of web applications running and thriving. Without APIs much of the internet services you love might not even exist! APIs are easy way to connect with other websites & web services to use their data to make your site or application even better. This simple tutorial gives you the basics of how you can access this data and use it. If you want to know if a website has an api, just search "Facebook API" or "Twitter API" or "Foursquare API" on google. Some APIs are easy to use (like Locu's API which we use in this video) some are more complicated (Facebook's API is more complicated than Locu's). More about APIs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Api Code from the video: http://pastebin.com/tFeFvbXp If you want to learn more about using APIs with Django, learn at http://CodingForEntrepreneurs.com for just $25/month. We apply what we learn here into a Django web application in the GeoLocator project. The Try Django Tutorial Series is designed to help you get used to using Django in building a basic landing page (also known as splash page or MVP landing page) so you can collect data from potential users. Collecting this data will prove as verification (or validation) that your project is worth building. Furthermore, we also show you how to implement a Paypal Button so you can also accept payments. Django is awesome and very simple to get started. Step-by-step tutorials are to help you understand the workflow, get you started doing something real, then it is our goal to have you asking questions... "Why did I do X?" or "How would I do Y?" These are questions you wouldn't know to ask otherwise. Questions, after all, lead to answers. Google Apps Script is a JavaScript cloud scripting language that provides easy ways to automate tasks across Google products and third party services and build web applications. Source code: https://gist.github.com/erajanraja24/02279e405e28311f220f557156363d7b This tutorial video explains how to scrape or get the google search results title for the given search query using URLFetchApp and regular expressions. There are so many paid web scraping tool available in the markets but we are using simple apps script to extract the title of search results. UrlFetchApp extracts the HTML for the given search query and saves it in the form of String. Later we have used regular expression format to extract the HTML structure of search results(h3 tags) alone by excluding other tags. Then we have used replace method to extract only the title of google search results. Finally, we print it in the logger. ======================================================== Recommended books: Learning google apps script- http://amzn.to/2g00LoM Google apps script for beginners- http://amzn.to/2gVAKvs ======================================================== Kindly subscribe and stay tuned!

Intro and Getting Stock Price Data - Python Programming for Finance p.1

09:34
Welcome to a Python for Finance tutorial series. In this series, we're going to run through the basics of importing financial (stock) data into Python using the Pandas framework. From here, we'll manipulate the data and attempt to come up with some sort of system for investing in companies, apply some machine learning, even some deep learning, and then learn how to back-test a strategy. I assume you know the fundamentals of Python. If you're not sure if that's you, click the fundamentals link, look at some of the topics in the series, and make a judgement call. If at any point you are stuck in this series or confused on a topic or concept, feel free to ask for help and I will do my best to help. https://pythonprogramming.net https://twitter.com/sentdex https://www.facebook.com/pythonprogramming.net/ https://plus.google.com/+sentdex

KEYWORD SEARCH METHOD FOR UNSTRUCTURED,SEMI STRUCTURED & STRUCTURED DATA TRAINING VIDEO,.

06:19
Data mining and text analytics and noisy text analytics techniques are different methods used to find patterns in, or otherwise interpret, this information. Common techniques for structuring text usually involve manual tagging with metadata or Part-of-speech tagging for further text mining-based structuring. UIMA provides a common framework for processing this information to extract meaning and create structured data about the information. Software that creates machine-processable structure exploits the linguistic, auditory, and visual structure that is inherent in all forms of human communication.[5] This inherent structure can be inferred from text, for instance, by examining word morphology, sentence syntax, and other small- and large-scale patterns. Unstructured information can then be enriched and tagged to address ambiguities and relevancy-based techniques then used to facilitate search and discovery. Examples of "unstructured data" may include books, journals, documents, metadata, health records, audio, video, files, and unstructured text such as the body of an e-mail message, Web page, or word processor document. While the main content being conveyed does not have a defined structure, it generally comes packaged in objects (e.g. in files or documents, ...) that themselves have structure and are thus a mix of structured and unstructured data, but collectively this is still referred to as "unstructured data".[6] For example, an HTML web page is tagged, but HTML mark-up is typically designed solely for rendering. It does not capture the meaning or function of tagged elements in ways that support automated processing of the information content of the page. XHTML tagging does allow machine processing of elements although it typically does not capture or convey the semantic meaning of tagged terms. Since unstructured data is commonly found in electronic documents, the use of a content or document management system through which entire documents are categorized is often preferred over data transfer and manipulation from within the documents. Document management is thus the means to convey structure onto document collections. BoilerPipe - quick HTML full text extraction

09:27
video demonstrates how you can use the open source BoilerPipe library to extract text from a HTML. The various extractors provided in the library handle removing the pages boiler plate HTML (ie removes the header/footer etc) so that you can focus on processing the main text on the page.

Mining Knowledge from Databases: An Information Network Analysis Approach

01:17:53
Most people consider a database is merely a data repository that supports data storage and retrieval. Actually, a database contains rich, inter-related, multi-typed data and information, forming one or a set of gigantic, interconnected, heterogeneous information networks. Much knowledge can be derived from such information networks if we systematically develop an effective and scalable database-oriented information network analysis technology. In this talk, we introduce database-oriented information network analysis methods and demonstrate how information networks can be used to improve data quality and consistency, facilitate data integration, and generate interesting knowledge. Moreover, we present interesting case studies on real datasets, including DBLP and Flickr, and show how interesting and organized knowledge can be generated from database-oriented information networks

Webinar on Information retrieval from unstructured text at scale using advanced deep learning

01:05:26
This webinar talks about converting unstructured e-commerce text into structured format by leveraging multi-task deep learning. The existing problem: e-sellers upload text information in unstructured or semi-structured format. E-commerce engines use naive text search techniques as a result of which search engine performance suffers because of less number irrelevant results. Can we convert unstructured text into a structured (key:value) format with high precision and high recall? Challenges: Presence of multiple products in text description (e.g., blue top goes well with black jeans, which is the primary product?), semantic dis-ambiguity (e.g., 'Blue' as brand vs color, top as filler vs fashion category), context spread across long sentences (e.g., this is stunning red color top, ....., this sleeveless piece is a gem, ....) scale: more than 4 m e-fashion listings crawled, parsed and converted into structured format. Let us dive into the solutions with this webinar. Agenda Motivate the problem by examples Key challenges and requirements to solve the problem Bidirectional LSTM based deep network Case Study and deployment challenges
