Dividends: That's what it's all about. Today's #dividend #investing video covers six recent PPC Ian subscriber questions. This is a long investing video and covers your #questions in great detail. Below, I outline today's dividend video by timestamp.
0:33 Question 1: How can I generated $2,000 per month from dividend stocks? How much money do I need to invest to achieve this goal of $2,000 per month?
For this particular question, I go through three scenarios based on time.
1) I need the money now
2) 10 years out
* 10 years out 13% YOC (dividend yield on cost, with dividends reinvested)
* $24,000/13% = $184,000
* This is the magic of compound interest
3) 15 years out
* 15 years 28% YOC (dividend yield on cost, with dividends reinvested)
* $24,000/28% = $85,000
* Key = element of time
13:05 Question 2: Do dividend investors need to do anything special or worry about a market correction of 10% or more?
Mentality: I'm prepared to lose half my money on paper. My strategy for a stock market crash:
1) Have cash on sidelines
2) Reinvest dividends at progressively lower prices
3) Have a long terms perspective (I don't care if stock prices fall, in fact I get excited)
When everyone is headed for the hills and I buy, that is what gets me to financial freedom faster)
20:30 Question 3: What's on my dividend stock watch list? What's a good dividend stock value right now?
* PPL 5.24% dividend yield
* HON1.9% dividend yield
* FUN 7.5% dividend yield
* MMM 3.5% dividend yield
* LEG 5.3% dividend yield
* Sin Stocks such as BTI 7.4% dividend yield
29:22 Question 4: If a stock is extremely high in price, do I turn off DRIP (dividend reinvestment) on dividends? In general, no:
1) book keeping
2) don't penalize winners
34:30 Question 5: What if I owned Raytheon (RTN)?
I own United Technologies (UTX). I plan to hold it. I would do the same with RTN, hypothetically speaking.
41:08 What do I think about Iron Mountain (IRM)?
* I have no issue dismissing a stock completely.
* If I don't want to hold it forever, the whole strategy does not work!
