I was given the opportunity to film both outside and in of our National Mining Museum in Scotland. This place is a huge part of our areas history and so happy to show off as much as I was allowed. A massive thank you to the team down there for accommodating me and I hope your happy with this collection of shots I've put together. This was filmed and edited by myself and was not paid for or requested by the National Mining Museum, it is of my own making. Links to the Museum can be found here: https://nationalminingmuseum.com/ Music: www.bensound.com Feel free to help a brother out with a £1 or two, I'll forever send you my love www.paypal.me/mrtuppypaypal

National Mining Museum Scotland

I love this video. This was a project undertaken originally by my employers apprentices. After lack of time availability for the apprentices after I supported and assisted them in filming the best of the museum meant I got the chance to put my creative spin on the footage. It contains an interview with a former coal-face worker turned tour-guide at the Coillery in Newtongrange.

The pictures from my visit to the National Coal Mining Museum for England. Like Big Pit it is based around an old Colliery and offers underground tours which I didn't do. This museum is on a larger site and has more exhibitions about the history of mining.

The winding engine at the National Mining Museum for Scotland at Lady Victoria colliery, Newtongrange. This engine was built in 1894 by Grant Ritchie of Kilmarnock, and worked at the colliery until its closure in 1981. Today the mighty engine is turned round electrically, but the boilers are all still in situ awaiting restoration.

NCB No.21 West Ayr Area

28:19
The Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway took delivery of locomotive NCB No. 21 West Ayr Area the locomotive will be at Bo'ness railway for a few weeks under a contract cosmetic overhaul for the National Mining Museum Scotland. And returning back to the Mining Museum on that same day was the locomotive Newbattle Colliery No.3 looking very smart after its cosmetic overhaul . The No. 21 0-4-0ST locomotive was built by Andrew Barclay in 1949 and was employed by the National Coal Board (NCB) in the West Ayr Area as No 21 at Pennyvenie Colliery .The locomotive is now preserved at the Scottish Mining Museum at Newtongrange near Dalkeith which is the site of the former Lady Victoria Colliery. The Lady Victoria Colliery was mothballed after the miners’ strike but was never brought back into use. It has now been developed as the Scottish Mining Museum and offers a rare chance to explore the best preserved group of Victorian mining buildings in Europe. Newbattle Colliery No.3 Lothian Coal Company and NCB Area 2 (Lothians) No.3 Built 1916, Andrew Barclay, Sons & Co., Kilmarnock. Works No.1458. This locomotive was built by Andrew Barclay, Sons & Co for the Ministry of Munitions, Houston, Georgetown, near Paisley. It was sold to the Lothian Coal Company in 1919 and worked the remainder of its long service at Newbattle Colliery, also known as Lady Victoria Colliery, at Newtongrange, Midlothian. In 1947, ownership passed to the National Coal Board, Area 2 (Lothians). The locomotive remained at Newbattle and retained its running number '3' throughout its service. No.3 was donated by the National Coal Board. It was not named during its working life, and acquired the name Lady Victoria in 1988 when at the Glasgow Garden Festival, displayed by Falkirk District Council.

The Deadly Winters - The Mines of Spennymoor

04:05
Taken from the EP "Raise The Coin" Released: 5 November 2012 Format: Download from iTunes and Amazon + Ltd Edition CD. VIDEO Filmed by Scott MacArthur and Liam Somerville of Saltire Photography. Edited by Max Edgar, Scott MacArthur and Liam Somerville. Filmed on Location and with kind permission at The National Mining Museum Scotland, Newtongrange. The Deadly Winters are once again proud to be leading you into the colder season with a brand new EP -- Raise the Coin. The recording of these songs saw the band return to work with Producer Andy Miller at Gargleblast Studios in Hamilton, Scotland, the result being four lovingly crafted, historical-based folk rock songs that focus on the theme of people's inherent lust for money, and the lengths to which they will go to gain it. Raise the Coin, features the songs The Mines of Spennymoor, Burke and Hare, The Hangmans Chorus and The Troubadours. A busy 12 months of performing has seen the band support The Staves, perform with Anderson McGinty Webster Ward and Fisher at Out In The Sticks Festival, Megson at The IVFDF (Aberdeen) as well as appearances at Celtic Connections, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Edinburgh Rock n Roll Marathon, The Southern Gatherin' Festival (Peebles) and Kaleidoscope Festival (St Andrews).
