How To Mine Litecoin (scrypt) With ATI R9 290 (asus) 820 khash/sec not oc using cgwatcher / cgminer

00:40
Note: These settings worked best for me, every card can react differently. This is a temp setup while i get the rest of the parts. 1. Install ATI's latest drivers / AMD SDK 2. Install MSI Afterburner (For better fan speed / Overclock controls) 3. Install CGminer 2.7 (everything after doesn't work with scrypt): http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/ 4. Install CGWatcher: http://manotechnology.blogspot.ca/p/cgwatcher.html#download 5. Using these settings netted me best results (Not Overclocked) Add the following after the pool information in cgminer.conf: "api-allow" : "W:127.0.0.1", "api-listen" : true, "failover-only" : true, "per-device-stats" : true, "scrypt" : true, "lookup-gap" : "2", "temp-overheat" : "89", "temp-cutoff" : "90", "gpu-engine" : "947", "gpu-memclock" : "1250", "gpu-powertune" : "20", "vectors" : "1", "gpu-threads" : "1", "worksize" : "512", "thread-concurrency" : "24550", "intensity" : "20" Observations: Windows 8.1 x64 offers better system stability compared to windows 7. When a driver crash is generated, you will not always blue screen. Asus R9 290 is very loud but offers decent performance for the price (830 Khash/sec average not OC).

The build didn't come without its pain of dealing with the 6th GPU issues that most run into using higher end cards and Windows OS. The BBT Team beats the odds and crafts together a beast! In the end we use 3 PSU's and 2x 110 (20amp) outlets to power this monster! Pro Tip: 6 GPU's of this caliber require some patience as getting to the 5th GPU is pretty easy, after the 5th you began to run into issues with OS/configuration and power requirements. This seems to be the tipping point of any system for multiple reasons. Base configuration used in this build: BBT 6 GPU Open Air Mining Rig (v.2.0) ASROCK H81 Pro BTC Motherboard Intel G3220 Haswell Dual Core Pentium CPU 1x 16x by 16x ribbon riser (powered, but NOT plugged in) 5x 1x by 16x ribbon risers (non powered) 8gb Corsair Ballistix DDR3 12800 PNY 120gb SSD 6x Sapphire Toxic R9 280x 2x ThermalTake 1200w (Gold Plus 80 PSUs) 1x Corsair CX600w PSU Using settings -I 13 -w 256 -g 2 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1160 --gpu-memclock 1875 --gpu-powertune 20 --gpu-vddc 1.250 4.8g/hash results - however HUGE power requirements pushing nearly 2200+ Watts Using: -I 13 -w 256 -g 2 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1060 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune 5 4.504 M/Hash and rock stable boasting nearly 755k/h from each card at just under 2k watts for entire system ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thread mentioned in video that helped us get the 6th card working: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=11761.0 For folks wanting to pick up a switch for their rig: http://www.e-itx.com/cab-pwr-mbd-reset.html Cliffnotes version: Let windows 8.1 configure base graphics drives from fresh install. Don't install Calalyst from AMD, download the examples provided in the thread, hand install the .inf's and let the mod do its thing. How To Mine Litecoin (scrypt) with Nvidia EVGA GTX 780 SC (3788KR) Dual (Not in SLI) 1200 khash/sec

02:03
Here's how to mine with the optimal settings. 1. Install the most recent NVidia drivers (Do not enable SLI if you have more than one card) 2. Download Cudaminer from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.0: Must be: cudaminer-2013-12-18.zip [32+64bit version] (7.2 MB) 3. Create a Batch file with the following settings: One GPU cudaminer.exe -H 2 -d 0 -i 0 -l T12x32 -m 1 -C 0 -o Two GPU cudaminer.exe -H 2 -d 0,1 -i 0,0 -l T12x32,T12x32 -m 1,1 -C 0,2 -o Observations: If running windows, install windows 8.1 x64 because the driver crash recovery is better (Compared to windows 7) When running 1 GTX 780 system was using 435 Watts with one card at full load. When running 2 GTX 780 system was using 735 Watts with both cards at full load. When running with more than one GTX 780 you will have heat issues with the top card. You can always buy extenders, remember to order quickly because shipping is very slow (from china). Cards ran stable @ 105% power target and small gpu overclock = 100-125 mhz (580-620 khash/sec) Using T12x32 Netted the best gains Installing one Noctua NF-A14 did wonders for the tempetures. This fan produces 140 m3/h. I recommend keeping the temps below 80. Running cudaminer in x86 will net you better results (+15%)

GPU Litecoin Mining (scrypt) - Radeon HD 7850 @ 0.35 Mh/s [cgminer]

01:46
I use Windows 7 but this should work on Linux as well. All you need is: 1) AMD APP SDK: http://developer.amd.com/tools/hc/AMDAPPSDK/downloads/Pages/default.aspx or the newest AMD driver 13+ 2) cgminer-2.11.2-win32.zip: http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/2.11/ The command line I used: ..\cgminer-2.11.2-win32\cgminer.exe -o http://litecoinpool.org:9332 -u ****.1 -p **** --scrypt --intensity 13 (There are plenty more parameters and options which can be set in the command line but it seems for the 7850 the only reasonable parameter is "--intensity 13". I did some testing and I got the highest hash rates with this) Please leave a comment if there are questions. LiteCoin: How to earn money with your graphics card: HD7970 / R9-280X LiteCoin Guide

11:49
In this tutorial I'd like to show you how to get into scrypt mining with your graphics card. I'm using an HD7970 (comparable with an R9-280X) graphics card. You will need to acquire a copy of cgminer 3.7.2 (or lower) from http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer I'm using www.wemineltc.com in this example as our pool for litecoin mining. Here's the configuration for your .bat-file. setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 cd C:\Crypto\cgminer\ cgminer.exe --url world.wemineltc.com:3335 --user florianuhlemann.1 --pass 123 --url usa.wemineltc.com:3334 --user florianuhlemann.1 --pass 123 --url hk.wemineltc.com:3333 --user florianuhlemann.1 --pass 123 --scrypt --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192 --lookup-gap 2 --worksize 256 --intensity 13 --gpu-threads 2 --queue 0 --expiry 16 I suggest going up in 10MHz steps on your engine clock with a fixed memory clock to the highest value and then trying to work your way up with the memory clock on what your graphics card can handle. If it's too high, you will see it fail (blue screen, artifacts, stripes, etc). Be aware that you will most likely void your warranty if you do so (overclocking)! You might also like to increase the PowerTune value to 20 (max) and turn up your fan to 100% or as needed to provide sufficient cooling. Cgminer Scrypt Mining Tuning (Overclocking) GPU Raise Hashrate Tutorial (Litecoin, Feathercoin, etc)

19:27
Hello everyone, this tutorial is to show you how to tune your GPU to get a better hash rate. Overclocking for scrypt mining is more complex than bitcoin (rather than just increasing your engine clock to as high as possible, and memory to as low as possible). So hopefully this tutorial will show you how to easily do this. This was done on windows 7, but should be the same for every system using cgminer. The same can also be done with other tools such as MSI Afterburner, if you would prefer use something like that. Personally I prefer cgminer as you can save the settings which are automatically used. Due to this more complex way of overclocking it is hard to explain how to do it, so I thought a video with a real example of showing performance is a good idea. Please note that when changing the Kh/s rate can be misleading as it takes a while to update. Therefore I would recommend using the one next to it to see it update. Thanks for watching, if anyone wants to donate to inspire me to create more videos of this kind or if I helped you out and you feel obligated to donate, then thanks! (each donation link is unique for each video, this allows me to see what you guys want so I can make more of it in the future). NiceHash Mining With Two Old R9 280x Graphics Cards

05:31
Finally got an old machine up and running in a new case with better cooling, good for the summer months. The case is a Corsair Carbide 300R + Window. It's got great extra cooling options, I added 4 additional 140mm case fans in the side window and top of the case. I've setup NiceHash to get going quickly. I need to do some work optimising the cards, drivers with undervolting etc and keep an eye on some stability issues, then will decide whether to stay with NiceHash or mine directly. The other hardware came out of an old Litecoin mining rig. ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0 motherboard, AMD Sempron CPU and two MSI R9 280x Gaming 3G graphics cards. New Case -Dual R9 280x (GV-R928XOC-3GD) 1.466 Mh/s Litecoin Rig

00:55
Litecoin Rig Part 2 - New Case. I bought a case to protect my hardware. Took it down off the PVC tree I made and moved it into a spare room. I cut off the heat to that room and left the window open. I feel much better knowing the cat and her fur won't be near it and it will be easier to keep it cool. After setting it back up and starting it up I am getting 1.466 Mh/s on 2 R9 280x Graphics cards. I also added tightvnc to the system so i can view it and work with it remotely. LED lights on the fans were turned off via a button on the case. I was annoyed by them and glad they were easy to turn off. cgminer 3.7.2 The cgminer code i am currently using is cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://ltc.give-me-coins.com:3334 -u worker.1 -p x -I 13 -w 256 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1070 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune -20 --gpu-vddc 1.100 Parts used Case - Thermaltake Chaser MK-1 AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 Motherboard x2 R9 280x (GV-R928XOC-3GD) REV 1.... graphics cards 16gb ram intel celeron g1610 processor 1200 watt power supply silent pro gold (so i can add 1 or 2 more cards) OS is Windows 7Pro 64bit. Gigabyte R9 270 - 480Khash/s Feathercoin Mining Rig [Record!]

03:08
I have tweaked my Gigabyte R9 270 2Gb OC rev1.0 to 480Khash/s, using BAMT SMOS, this cheap card blows the 270x and other R9's out of the water when you consider the price to hash ratio. This video is just to prove my statements. If you can pull more hashes out of an R9 270 I would love to see your cgminer.conf settings. https://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?/topic/5204-running-my-first-rig-smos-ftw/ My tweaks can be found here along with the epic adventure I took to get it working just right. https://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?/topic/5320-r9-270-tweaking-bamt-smos/ I'm yet to under volt and introduce my second 270 with a riser. One of the cards ran at 95c so I'm going to wait for that riser out of fear of making myself an R9 stir fry. PS, sorry about the extremely poor lighting. I now have tweaks for guiminer-scrypt / cgminer via windows. This pulls 475kHash/s "--gpu-platform 0 -d 0 -w 256 -v 1 -I 19 -g 1 -l 1 -T --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1125 --thread-concurrency 16000"

R9 270 MSI x6 rig Part 1

02:10
Part 1 of my mining rig creation video. Some details. The rig consists of: (6) MSI Twin Frozr R9 270 video cards Asrock H81 Pro BTC motherboard 4GB Kingston DDR3 Memory Stick Thermaltake 1275W PSU Rosewill RD700 PSU Intel Haswell G3220 1150 dual-core CPU Add2PSU plug to link PSU's 320GB 2.5" SATA HD (Ideally all you need is a 64GB SSD) Windows 8.1 I use cgminer 3.7.2 to mine for coins. And after much toiling (and copying) I've come up with the following scrypt. Lemme know if you come up with something that gives a higher hash rate: del scrypt*.bin setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://megahash.wemineltc.com:3333 -u cavermark1.1 -p Trumpet1 -g 1 -w 256 -I 19 --thread-concurrency 24000 --auto-fan --temp-target 60 --temp-overheat 70 --temp-cutoff 75 --lookup-gap 2 --gpu-engine 1130 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-powertune 30 --no-submit-stale Bear in mind that this is for Windows. The scypt for Linux is slightly different. Well, that's it. If you have any questions or comments, leave them below. I'll try to answer them as soon as I see them. Oh and don't forget to like if you like what you see.

My scrypt coin rig (6 x Gigabyte R9 270 OC) - 2,9 MH/S - UNDERVOLTED

01:43
6 x Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 2GB 256 PCI-E GDDR5 OC. Asrock H81 PRO BTC s.1150. Intel Pentium G3220 3,0 GHz 3MB cache s. 1150 Box. 2 x Corsair RM Series RM850 850W - CP-9020056-EU Corsair Vengeance 4GB, DIMM,1600MHz, DDR3, CL9, XMP,Non-ECC, with Heatsink. HDD Seagate ST500DM002, 500GB sATA III 16MB Working under Windows 8.1 64 bit system Taking 1030 W from the wall and making 2,65 MH/s UPDATE: After undervolting those cards are making 2,9 MH/s taking 1015 W from the wall. Undervolting using this method can and probably will void your warranty so you are doing this at your own risk (most cards can be undervolted using tolls such like MSI Afterburner but some are locked and can be modded like this). If you are still reading, this is what you will need to do undervolting: VBE7 - http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/attachments/vbe7-0-0-7b-exe.52628/ GPU-Z - http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ ATIFlash - http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2306/atiflash-4-17/ I don't advise doing this with only one card - in case of trouble it will be hard to recover. Steps: 1. Make a backup of your VBIOS - to do this run GPU-Z, pick card and save it to safe place, in case you have few different cards or VBIOS versions, make a backup for each of them 2. Modify VBIOS - run VBE7, open your saved VBIOS, and go to performance tab. Change VDDC #0 to value 1000 (it was good for me you need to find your own). Save changed VBIOS to some directory, other then original ones. 3. If you have more than 3 cards some it became little bit complicated. Shutdown your rig - disconnect PCI-E risers (max 3 can be connected, one of them needs to be your main x16 one) - this step is forced because ATIFlash doesn't support more then 3 cards. 4. Start the rig. 5. Unpack ATIFlash, go to directory you've unpacked it, 6. right click on ATIWinFlash.exe and pick Run as Administrator (probably it will take some time to open it, it is normal) 7. Pick one of the cards, open VBIOS you have modified, then pick Program, after some time you will be prompt that flashing was successful (hopefully). 8. Restart the rig and run your mining software (I'm using sgminer), you need to make sure that it is stable, if every thing is ok, repeat steps 5 to 8 for other 2 cards (you can distinguish the cards that have been modified by the VBIOS version shown in program - current version need to be different then the modified one that you've loaded). 9. Now it is time to shut down the rig and change the plugs disconnect 2 cards - leave main x16 connected) and connect 2 new ones and repeat previous steps. 10. After you finished with all of them you will need to shutdown the rig one again, connect all the cards and power it on. 11. If everything is ok, now you have less heat given and smaller energy consumption 12. You can now experiment with miner settings to get more hashes, for me some settings that previously weren't achievable now work as harm Tip: From my experiments stability can vary on different coins and pools, be aware of this when you will change the coin or poll for the new one e.g when I've mined LTC on wemineltc it was more stable (could get higher hashes) then on DOGECOIN on dogehouse 13. Most important step: BUY ME A BEER !!! DOGECOIN: DR1EMX92KYAUwTdaUwxrRdciMHbP8mSKNY LITECOIN: LMEKsF6wcbMYoiGXekXvdYNwLVAVxEmsiC BITCOIN: 1McBGRR2oTjvkw1RypXiswU3WFKThC7qMo

AMD R9 290 litecoin mining temperature dependancy

03:19
Here you can see the dependancy of AMD R9 290 on the operating temperature while mining. The lower the temperature is, the higher hashrate you'll get. Clocks: 1000MHz (947MHz default) GPU / 1250 (default) Memory cgminer settings: -I 20 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 32765 --gpu-powertune 20 I could go higher with the clocks to get higher hashrate even at high temperature (tested safe 1045/[email protected] 92celsius = 912kHs), but this is less risky. PS: pools have also impact onthe hashrate. WeMineLTC is +20kHs compared to SwitcherCoin. But SwitcherCoin gives me currently +90% LTC :-)

Litecoin Mining In A Cold Shed

00:59
Litecoin / Vertcoin mining in cold. Air temperature has been lately between -5°C and +3°C. Everything undervolted. No humidity If PCs stay on and warmer than the air. Using 3x Radeon HD 6950 and one Radeon 5770 Asus cucore. 670W/1340kh/s about... Looking to save more watts. AMD A4 4000 CPU underclocked and undervolted. 2GB memory / motherboard. W732bit. Sapphire Trixx or MSI Afterburner mostly stock clocks. Undervolting in BAMT did not show much in a Kill A Watt meter. Firewall stopping other traffic than cgminer. Looking for more parts, perhaps 750ti s. A wooden rig is ready + risers. If difficulty does not rise too high? Vertcoin / Cudaminer ? Vertcoin now about half of the litecoin hashes, but quite profitable. I start Miners with I 16 and manually rise to 18. Vertcoin I : 10 or 13 TC about 80% off litecoin.

BBT Episode 9: MSI r9 270 Twin Frozr Review - Best all around mining card around!

04:07
BEST VIEWED IN 1080p HD In this episode the BBT quickly covers what were dubbing as the best Cost/Hash/Power combo card out there. The MSI Twin Frozer R9 270 (non-X) This card is a absolute BEAST ... mid 450's scrypt hash for 209 bucks, uses only 145-155w of power and only has 1-6pin connector! You can save a fortune when placing 6 of these in a mining rig by only using one PSU! The advantage of only needing 1 single 6pin Rail is monumental! Best Configuration - NO Hardware Errors as video had! -I 20 -g 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 16384 --gpu-powertune 20 --shaders 1280 --verbose --temp-target 65 --temp-cutoff 85 --auto-fan Our channel survives from subscribers like you and from tiny donations!
