States of Matter for Kids | #aumsum
Our topic for today is States of Matter. Matter is made of particles. It exists in three states, namely solid, liquid and gas. The different states of matter are due to the different arrangement of particles of matter. In solid state, the particles of matter are very close to each other. So the particles hold each other very tightly, that is, there is a strong force of attraction between them. As a result, solids have a definite shape and volume. In liquid state, the particles are packed closely together, but they are much farther apart than the particles in solids and so the force of attraction is weaker than it is in solids. Therefore, liquids have a definite volume, but they do not have a definite shape. They take up the shape of the container in which they are kept. In gases, the particles of matter are very far away from each other and so the force of attraction between them is very weak. Thus, gases have neither a definite shape nor volume. They can fill the entire space or volume of a container irrespective of the container size.

Recycling Facts for Kids - Why is Recycling Important?
The importance of recycling is something that we should be teaching the younger generation at a very early age. How to recycle for kids, what is recycling and recycling projects for kids are all areas we should be getting involved in (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_Ufbm5ZkBY) It's 'Our World' we all need to take care of it by educating children with recycling facts and the benefits of recycling, we are allowing them to see why recycling is just so important (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0769pw2_pY). This video explores the "reduce, reuse, recycle" symbol, gives interesting facts about recycling and explains the significance of the recycle logo. It helps to teach children to reuse and to understand the benefits of recycling. Recycling saves the planet in so many different ways, it saves the environment and at the same time it offers people jobs which they could fulfill, which means that it also helps with solving the problem of unemployment. Did you know that throwing away any box or bottle could do much damage to the planet? This is not just because you are throwing away one box or bottle - which is still something that could make a difference - but because you are not the only one living on this planet and there are billions of people who would also think in the same way. In the UK alone, there are 12.5 million tonnes of paper used and in order to obtain one tonne of newspaper, one will need to use 24 trees, which means that if people did not reduce what they are using and recycling it, they might at some point realize that all the trees they have been growing on the planet are not longer there. It is interesting to let kids know that recycling is not of an easy process that the things people use undergo, but there are some cases like paper for example which are considered easier than the others. Some plastic bottles for example could take up to 500 years to decompose, which means to break down, and this means that some plastic parts could stay around for 500 years, which will make pollution or even worse, they might kill the sea creatures if they are thrown in the ocean around the world, it could kill around 1 million creature - that is really a number that people should think about and start reconsidering once again. When it comes to recycling, there are lots of things for kids to know that might astonish them and these are usually related to the calculations that scientists and professional people do considering the things that people use every single day. One of these interesting facts that could give people the push to start reducing, reusing and recycling is about the number of plastic cups that they use on a daily basis and which could line the Earth planet if they are placed beside one another every single day. Recycling is very important, actually recycling one tonne of paper could save about 17 trees, 6,000 gallons of water and it produces less air pollution, all that of course comes in addition to the job vacancies that appear to the world and saves lots of those who are failing to find an appropriate job. The problem with not recycling is the consequences that would be carried on the planet. The paper that is not recycled could actually cause air pollution because it is buried in a landfill and the landfill rubbish rots and as it rots it can produce a dangerous greenhouse gas called methane, which could increase global warming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-N5jb-fWTs). Recycling is very important and kids should understand from an early age that recycling could help them save the environment since recycling one glass bottle could actually save 50% less water and 20% less air pollution, which would be good steps taken along with other things that could be recycled and lots of other steps taken in saving the environment in general. It is not just about plastic and paper that could be recycled, but there are other materials that could go into the list as well, such as glass, metal, fabrics and electronics, so always consider recycling and how things could be recycled before moving forward with throwing away your things and know more whether they could be recycled or not. The interesting things which kids might not even believe is that the food and garden waste could be also recycled, which is the reason why people are always asked to separate their waste when they are throwing it away to separate everything and make it easier for the people who collect it to put every single type with the rest and place it directly to be recycled. Recycling is so important and it could save the environment and at the same time help people and reduce unemployment, so people should always consider reducing, reusing and recycling the things they use no matter what the material they are using is. Let your kids know more about recycling and what it is and give them what they need to know the importance of it. Send us your feedback about the video and tell us what did your kids think as well.

Catholic Schools vs. Common Core Education Standards
Joy Pullmann, an education research fellow at the Heartland Institute, talks with Duke Pesta regarding data mining and testing consortiums regarding Common Core. http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/education/item/16647-expert-explores-link-between-federal-data-mining-and-common-core In an exclusive studio interview with The New American magazine's Dr. Duke Pesta, Heartland Institute Education Research Fellow Joy Pullmann outlined the crucial link between the Obama-backed "Common Core" nationalization of schooling, the federally funded tests that go with the standards, and the vast data-gathering apparatus being erected by the administration to gather private information on U.S. students. The Common Core assessments, which have already been adopted by about four in five state governments, are a key element underpinning the entire scheme, she explained. "The first thing people have to know is that testing is inseparable from Common Core," said Pullmann, a leading analyst focused on the education "reform" agenda with the non-partisan Heartland Institute. "When governors signed a bunch of documents saying 'yeah, we want to do this nationalization of education project,' one of the things that they signed on to was the Common Core initiative, and they defined it as standards plus assessments. So those assessments, those tests, are the enforcement mechanism to make sure that Common Core gets into the minds and into the hands of teachers and children in the classrooms."

In the black community, a division over charter schools
With the election of Donald Trump, a big proponent of school choice, and his like-minded pick for secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, the topic of charter schools is likely to attract more attention. But among African-American parents and the NAACP, the debate over school choice and its impact on public education is already a heated one. From Memphis, Education Week’s Lisa Stark reports.

As we always tell you, it is very important to know the past, to understand the present and improve the future. ▶SUBSCRIBE TO HAPPY LEARNING! http://bit.ly/HappyLearningTV ▶Web site: https://happylearning.tv/en/ ▶Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HappyLearningTv Recommended video: Roman Empire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9bcohqsTGk&t=4s Hello friends, welcome to a new Happy Learning video ... today we are going to learn about a period of history very important and very revolutionary, today we are going to learn about the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution is the stage of history that goes from 1780 to 1850 and began in England. For almost the entire history of mankind, life had been based on agriculture and livestock. At the end of the 18th century, the Englishman James Watt invented, or rather perfected, the steam engine. Until then the artisans had been dedicated to the manufacturing of utensils with their own hands in small workshops, but with the arrival of the steam engine, that changed forever. This machine used the energy of steam to transform it into power and moving other machines. These new machines were applied to the industry and began to do the work that the artisans used to do, so the small artisan workshops were disappearing giving way to the big factories. The steam engine was also used for transport and the first trains and steam boats were manufactured, which facilitated trade and travel between cities and countries. Europe was filled with trains. During the Industrial Revolution, the rural society dominated by the nobility stopped being as important as it was and the urban society dominated by the bourgeoisie started to appear. The bourgeoisie were normal people who had become powerful and rich thanks to trade. Since they had a lot of money, they started investing in technology and were the first to build factories. The workers, also called proletarians, were the people who did not have wealth. Not being able to make a living in the countryside or in the villages, they emigrated to the big cities to work in the factories. At first they worked in very bad conditions and for very little money meaning that many children had to work on very hard and dangerous tasks so that their families could feed themselves. The workers asked for rights to work in a dignified and safe way, and the owners, the bourgeoisie, did not want to give it to them. After many conflicts, strikes and fights, the workers managed to make the work days last eight hours, and allowed them to rest on Sundays or take vacation days ... and also children were protected so that they did not have to work anymore. Today we continue to use many of these rights and also many of the machines we use are developments of those first steam engines. You already know that knowing the past allows us to understand the present and improve the future. Goodbye friends until the next video, ah and do not forget to subscribe to Happy Learning Tv

Where Do We Get Oil From? - Geography for Kids | Educational Videos by Mocomi
https://mocomi.com/ presents: Where do we get oil from? The Earth’s surface, millions of years ago, was covered with more water than what it has today and living in this were billions of tiny plants and animals. When these plants and animals died, they fell to the ocean floor and piled up. Sand from eroding rocks and mud covered them up. These layers of sand and mud were heavy and this weight turned them into sedimentary rocks. Heat from the earth and the weight of the rocks caused the dead plants and animals to compress into oil. Once the oil is formed, it slowly moves up through pores in the rocks. However in some cases, rocks without any pores leaves oil trapped underground. Oil is found in different parts of the world. The places where oil is extracted are called oil fields. More than half of the world’s oil is produced in the Middle East. To get to the oil, a company must first drill down to it. A rig is set up to support the drill. Then a well is drilled into the ground until the oil is reached. If the oilfield is in the sea, then offshore rigs are used. Watch this interesting video on how oil is formed from fossils which are compressed under the ocean floor. The Renaissance: Was it a Thing? - Crash Course World History #22
In which John Green teaches you about the European Renaissance. European learning changed the world in the 15th and 16th century, but was it a cultural revolution, or an evolution? We'd argue that any cultural shift that occurs over a couple of hundred years isn't too overwhelming to the people who live through it. In retrospect though, the cultural bloom in Europe during this time was pretty impressive. In addition to investigating what caused the Renaissance and who benefitted from the changes that occurred, John will tell you just how the Ninja Turtles got mixed up in all this. The Foundations of Wealth - Full Video
Most of us associate wealth with money but real wealth can only be achieved through the production and distribution of goods and services. This series of ten playful English segments will explain how society evolved in such a way to enable a huge increase in production to be achieved. Of course there were no television cameras or film crews available 10,000 years ago to record what happened, so this series uses cartoons to illustrate how things might have been all those years ago! Each cartoon section is followed by real-world images showing how this is relevant today. The Foundations of Wealth is designed to help students understand what the subject of Economics is all about. Economic decisions are made every day, even though students may not be aware of them. For example, all of us think about: How will I choose to spend my time today? How will I choose to spend my money? Who made the things I use? How were they made? This video will help explain a great deal about the way in which these decisions are made. The Foundations of Wealth covers numerous educational standards across several subject areas including ELL, Language Arts, Media/Technology, and Social Studies for Grades 4-9. To learn more about this educational program, and which standards it covers specific to your grade, subject area, and which standards your district is using, visit our educational program summary section for this video here: http://www.izzit.org/products/detail.php?video=foundations_of_wealth. Foundations of Wealth is divided up into segments about different economic concepts. It’s not meant to be shown all at once. Ep. 177: Cédric Waldburger On Minimalism And On How To Deliberately Live Your Life
Greetings, SuperFriends! Today we are joined by Cédric Waldburger. Cédric, to whom I was recently introduced by a very good friend, is originally a Swiss national, who today travels the world all year round and lives with only 64 things in his possession! Cédric is passionate about startups. and thus he is a serial entrepreneur, an investor, and a blockchain enthusiast. He is currently working on a number of different startups, including DFINITY, a venture-backed blockchain startup, and another one, that you are going to hear about, that I think is equally as interesting. Cédric has also co-founded a number of businesses around the world from Zurich, New York, Paris, Hong Kong, London, and Berlin, and he's held roles in the technology management side for the better part of 2 decades. He is all about growing business, but that's actually not what we spend the majority of the conversation talking about. What we talked about for 80% of the time was the level to which Cédric optimizes and deliberately thinks about his life and the way that he is living it. He is deliberate about everything he owns, about everything that he does, and also about everything that he thinks and feels. I think it's a really fascinating approach to life, and I love the message at the end of the podcast, where he explains what the point of it all is, and why he puts so much effort into leading the perfect life. I think you guys are really going to enjoy this episode, as I certainly did. As I said, Cédric has quickly become a personal friend of mine, and I think that you guys are very quickly going to understand why. -Jonathan Levi

VOA news for Monday, June 11th, 2018
VOA news for Monday, June 11th, 2018 Thanks to http://gandalf.ddo.jp From Washington, this is VOA news. I'm Christopher Cruise reporting. President Trump and North Korea's dictator Kim Jong Un have now arrived in Singapore. They're scheduled to meet on Tuesday in the first ever meeting of a North Korean leader and a sitting U.S. president. Associated Press correspondent Ben Thomas reports. On his arrival, Kim met with Singapore's prime minister. He says denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is of global importance. "not just Northeast Asia, but actually the whole of Asia and in fact, if we look at it more broadly, the whole world.” It's not clear what will be on the agenda when the two men meet. This is believed to be the farthest Kim has been from North Korea since taking power in 2011. Mr. Trump has said he told his representatives not to sign the communiqué; that was written by the six other G-7 leaders who had gathered along with the American president for a meeting over the weekend in Canada. Trump was unhappy about statements made by Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a [close] closing news conference. Trudeau criticized Trump about new U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum. He promised that Canada will retaliate as early as July 1. "We do not want to harm American workers. We do not want to harm trade between Canada and the United States. But the administration's choice to impose illegal and unacceptable tariffs, illegitimate and unacceptable tariffs to Canadian steel workers and auto workers and on the Canadian economy, must be met with an equivalent response.” Like Trudeau, British Prime Minister Theresa May promised to retaliate for tariffs placed on EU goods. White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said Trump did Trudeau a favor by attending the summit. This is VOA news. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is holding its first summit since India and Pakistan joined the bloc. The organization is widely seen as a way to block American influence in Central Asia. Italy is refusing to let a humanitarian ship carrying more than 600 migrants dock at any of its ports. Most of them are from sub-Saharan Africa. The International Labor Organization reports 152 million children are victims of child labor, with nearly half of them forced to work in hazardous, unhealthy conditions that can result in death and injury. Correspondent Lisa Schlein reports for VOA from Geneva in advance of the world day against child labor on June 12. The ILO reports nearly half of the child laborers are found in Africa and in the Asia and Pacific regions. Sub-Saharan Africa has the largest proportion with one in five children working. It notes children typically enter the work force at the age of six or seven, getting involved in hazardous work as they get older. About 70 percent of hazardous work is concentrated in agriculture. Other forms include mining, construction and domestic service. Lisa Schlein, for VOA news, Geneva. Thousands of women turned British cities into rivers of green, white and violet to mark 100 years since the first women in the U.K. won the right to vote. AP correspondent Karen Chammas reports. Mass processions of women marched through London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast wearing scarfs and the colors of the suffragette movement that fought for female empowerment. In 1918, British Parliament enacted the Representation of the People Act, which granted property-owning British women over 30 the right to vote. It will be another decade before women won the same voting rights as men. Women came from across England and even further afield to take part. The mood was celebratory, but organizers said the event aimed to draw attention to what remains to be done to achieve the quality, from closing the gender pay gap to ending workplace sexual harassment. Karen Chammas, London. Leo Sarkisian, the founder of VOA's long-running "Music Time in Africa" program has died at the age of 97. He died Friday. He will be buried with full military honors. He was known by his fans as the "Music Man of Africa," founded the English language radio program in 1965 and traveled to every African country recording music. Leo Sarkisian retired from VOA in 2012 after 47 years on the air. When he retired, he said, "I feel like I'm just beginning.” You can find more on these and other late breaking and developing stories, from around the world, around the clock, at voanews.com and on the VOA news mobile app. I'm Christopher Cruise, VOA news. That's the latest world news from VOA.

AAE tv | Common Core | The Mass Exodus To Home Schooling | Dr. Duke Pesta | 10.2.15
In this episode of Awake And Empowered TV The Mass Exodus To Home Schooling , Ethann Fox speaks with Dr. Duke Pesta on the Common Core public education program that is now the primary method of education in all 50 states of the United States and that is rapidly spreading to other parts of the world. Dr. Duke Pesta and Etannn discuss the involvement of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the other architects of Common Core, their motivations, and the move toward a more socialist society in the US. Other topics include the data mining aspects of common core, and links to corporate and pharmaceutical interests. About Dr. Duke Pesta Dr. Duke Pesta received his M.A. in Renaissance literature from John Carroll University and his Ph.D. in Shakespeare and Renaissance literature from Purdue University. He has taught at major research institutions and small liberal arts colleges, on a wide variety of subjects at the graduate and undergraduate level, including courses on Shakespeare, Renaissance literature, the Bible, Russian literature, Christian Apologetics, and C.S. Lewis. He has been active in educational reform, and was instrumental in developing and implementing an elective Bible course that is currently available for public high school students in Texas. Dr. Pesta is an engaging and animated speaker, whose experiences as an educational reformer, university professor, high school teacher, and the administrator of an online home school curriculum uniquely qualify him to address the current state of education in our country. He speaks at home school conventions and educational conferences across the nation on topics including the necessity of homeschooling, the decline of morality and critical thinking in the public schools, and the myriad ways that the educational establishment indoctrinates students. He is currently in demand on the speaking circuit as one of America’s foremost authorities on the dangers of Common Core. Dr. Pesta has delivered over 400 talks on Common Core in 40 states. He has been interviewed on radio and television over 1500 times, including places as diverse as the United Kingdom, China, Canada, and Mexico. He has spoken on the lecture circuit on subjects ranging from the Founding Fathers, to the Christian Apologetics of C. S. Lewis, to the history of educational reform, to the politicization of the study of history in our nation’s schools. He hosted a radio segment entitled Classical Gasp for public radio, which considered current events through the lens of historical precedent. Evaporation - Elementary Science
EVAPORATION Evaporation is a process by which water gets converted from a liquid form to vapor form. Evaporation of oceans accounts to 80% of water delivered as precipitation with balance occurring on land, inland waters and plants surfaces. Experiment: Place a beaker of water on a stove. Let the water boil. If you continue to heat the water it turns into steam and evaporates. Add some spoons of salt into water. Stir the water well, the salt gets dissolved. On heating the salt solution, the water gets evaporated leaving the salt behind. Common salt is one among them. When sea water is allowed to stand in shallow pits, water gets heated by the sunlight and slowly turns into water vapor by evaporation. In a few days water evaporates leaving the water behind leaving the salts completely. Common salt is then obtained from this mixture by further purification.

Human Sense Organs | Videos for Kids | #aumsum
Our topic for today is Human Sense Organs. Our five sense organs are eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin. We are able to learn, understand and enjoy all the things around us because of our sense organs. Our eyes help us to see the different objects around us. With the help of our ears, we can hear and differentiate the different kinds of sounds. Smell is the power of detecting a fragrance or an odor. We can smell with the help of our nose. The sense of smell is connected to the sense of taste. Food tastes less tasty if the nose is blocked. The taste buds on the tongue help us to enjoy the different flavors of food. Our fifth sense organ is the skin. Our skin acts as a blanket to protect us from heat, cold and germs.

3. Nuclear Experiments
Environmental Politics and Law (EVST 255) To illustrate the linkages among national security, secrecy, and environmental quality, Professor Wargo describes the Atomic Energy Commission's nuclear tests in the 1950s. The Atomic Energy Commission collected data on the spread of radionuclides from the nuclear tests, and discovered that the radionuclides were circulating around the world. This process of discovery raised issues regarding ways to manage risks to the population while both continuing the nuclear tests and keeping them secret for national security reasons. 00:00 - Chapter 1. How to Grow Alum Crystals
Alum crystals are among the easiest and quickest crystals you can grow. Simply mix 1/2 very hot tap water with 2-1/2 tablespoons of alum. You can get alum from the spice section of the grocery store or with canning and pickling supplies. The crystal growth becomes visible after a few minutes. You'll get thumbnail-size crystals in a matter of hours. If you want to grow a large perfect crystal, choose one of the crystals and remove all of the others. You can add more solution to support the growth of this crystal. Another interesting way to grow these crystals is to pour the alum solution over a small rock. You'll get a mass of "diamonds" on the stone. This is an easy project that produces a nice display. Alum crystals are a good project for kids because you don't need boiling water, you're using a safe chemical and you get quick results. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions or need any help.

Episode 142: Specialization and Trade: A Re-introduction to Economics (with Arnold Kling)
Arnold Kling joins us to talk about his new book, Specialization and Trade, which was recently published by Libertarianism.org. What’s the “MIT” approach to economics, and what’s wrong with it? Is economics a hard science? What is an economic model? What are some of the problems with thinking of the world this way? Arnold Kling claims that the economy isn’t like one big machine with a single purpose that can be fine tuned and regulated by experts. In this week’s episode, he presents an alternate way of thinking about economics, one you won’t find being taught in most college classrooms.
