Filmed on 3-11-17. Sorry, but the first, and last part of the video got ruined. I dropped my camera, and broke it. Sean, and I take you through Goldfield mining district. This is just a fraction of the abandoned mines in Goldfield. Though some of the largest, and biggest producer's of gold in the world. We take right up close, and show you how close they are to each other. In 1906 Goldfield, Nevada had a population of around 30,000 residents. It was the most populated city in Nevada at the time. They were going to move the capital of Nevada to Goldfield. As the gold dwindled away so did the thought of making Goldfield the capital. Please enjoy, and thanks for watching. Christian

Nevada's Gold Butte National Park is the site of some amazing Native American rock carvings. But its status as a National Monument has opened up a debate over who should control the land. Subscribe to Journeyman here: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=journeymanpictures President Obama set aside more than 550 million acres of federal land under 'national monument protection'. Many cheered the move, but disgruntled residents say the state should control their own land. If you are based in the US, you can watch this video on the PBS YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/z2phkw15mho For similar stories, see: The Native Americans Cashing In With Casinos (1999) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNn2R5kUYNQ The Controversial Program Bringing Wolves Back To The USA (2014) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT-P7C5sPG0 Controversial Conservationism (1999) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvRHqu95Ct0 While rock carvings, or petroglyphs, have been found all over the world and in other parts of the southwest, the concentration and artistry of those found at Gold Butte in Nevada's Mojave desert has earned them National Monument status. "I think of the artist who did this as perhaps the Michelangelo of his day", explains Jim Boone, member of 'Friends of Gold Butte', in reference to one particular drawing. Whilst the decision to preserve this site is popular amongst Nevada's voters, the inclusion of 300,000 surrounding acres has proved more divisive, amid fears that the designation will restrict usage. Former Representative to Nevada, Cresent Hardy, worries for future accessibility to the land: "It is public lands right now, and it’s public lands for the use of me, my children, other people". These concerns come among broader tensions over control of federally owned land, which many believe should be controlled at state level. This is an especial concern in Nevada, which is 85 per cent federally owned. "Give us the money that you spend out there across the country on every state, and let us manage our land", Hardy argues. Did we capture haunted sounds from the spirit world? Did we pick up some EVP's? I am not sure what the sounds are... You can judge for yourself. But it's definitely a very creepy mine tunnel to explore. We are not ghost adventures, and we are no paranormal investigators. We are just explorers who enjoy exploring abandoned places. We also enjoy exploring possible haunted abandoned places. Often called one of the most haunted places in the US, the Horton Mine is definitely a creepy place to explore. The entire mine looks like it could have been straight out of a horror movie. Exploring Abandoned Mines has explored this mine twice, and both times he claims to have experienced and filmed possible paranormal encounters with ghosts. Again, we are not ghost hunters or looking for paranormal activity, but we did think what we heard later was very interesting. The haunted Horton Mine is located in the state of Nevada, just outside of Austin Nevada. Let us know if you see or hear anything out of the ordinary. If there is enough interest, we may conduct a follow up visit and video. #Abandoned #Exploring #ExploreWithUs

In this quick video clip of a placer mine Justin and I were at earlier in the spring, I apparently filmed something I can't explain. Justin and I were about 500' - 600' apart from each other and there was no line of site between us nor could I visibly see the portal as there was a slight bend to the adit. At 1:00 if you look at the center of the adit you'll see a dark figure walking towards me. I did not see it when I was filming and didn't realize what was there until months later and only after my wife pointed it out to me. Justin and I have been trying to debunk this one but we've come up with no plausible explanation as of yet. I wasn't back lit by Justin or light from the portal, and was alone in that section at the time so it's not my shadow, plus the silhouette doesn't look like mine. I'm here to document mines not ghosts! lol Btw, Justin and I have seen and heard many strange things in mines. Some easily explained, some a bit harder, this one though takes the Cake. This is the original video clip.

Did some prospecting today to find some worthwhile spots for gold sluicing in summer. It's a wonderful experience to have clean water rush down the canyon. Not to forget the forest scenery and great flowers alongside the stream bed. Found some gold although it doesn't always show up with our camera angle. Enjoy the nature anyway. Thanks for watching. What an unexpected discovery! Paul and I never imagined finding what we found deep in this abandoned copper mine in Arizona. The Warren-Bisbee Mine's obscure entrance was basically a rabbit hole and didn't look too promising. However, once we gained entry by sliding in on our backs, the tunnels opened up and were surprisingly extensive. One tunnel led us deep into the mine to an inner area where we found -- something. Something impressive. Something rare that I've only seen a few times in abandoned mines over the last seven years or so. And it's all here in this video. Enjoy! Don't forget: New videos are released at midnight (Pacific Time) on the 1st, 10th, and 20th of each month. View and use the information in my videos at your own risk. All abandoned mines (especially the ones in my videos) are very dangerous and should not be entered under any circumstances. No potentially life-threatening, dangerous, or legal decisions and assumptions should be made based on information in my videos.

The Lucky Boy Claim at the “Discovery outcropping” would turn out to be the only viable operation of this short-lived mining district. The prominent tailings and mine workings of the Ramsey Comstock Mine can still be seen on the east side of the highway just south of the Storey-Lyon County line. Look a little closer, and the outcropping is still visible up and behind the tailing piles (and behind the hoist in this 1927 mill picture). This was coveted as the source of the high-grade mineral assays and promoted as “the largest deposit of uncovered gold yet discovered in the world.” In 1909, Nevada notables George Nixon and George Wingfield financed the construction of the mill at the Ramsey Comstock Mine. No records were kept of the district’s early years of production, but later records indicated the production at the Ramsey Comstock Mine totaled less than $400,000 in its last decade. The mine’s final operator—the Lahontan Mines Company—closed it for good in 1940.

Was hiking in a local canyon when I came across a trail I hadn't seen before. Followed it up out of the canyon, into a second canyon, and then found this old mine. There is a sign mentioning a metal gate being installed, but it looks like that gate was removed a long time ago. Considerable graffiti near the entrance, so it's not truly "hidden" but I haven't seen it on any local maps or old mine resources, like Hugh Blanchard excellent website (http://www.lagoldmines.com/). Fun find! This was in the San Gabriel mountains. If anyone has any info on this Gold Mine / Bat Cave, please let me know! I do not recommend exploring old mines as they can be very dangerous. http://www.california-gold-rush-miner.us/ California gold prospecting UAV. UAV stands for unmanned aerial vehicle, or more commonly called a drone. Using my Yuneec Q500 G model (you can, & I have, attached my GoPro Hero4 camera) on a California gold prospecting trip to the Cargo Muchacho Mountains located in the southeast Colorado Desert in the Lower Colorado River Valley, in Imperial County, California in the United States. Usually, recreational gold prospecting trips like this are over the weekend and therefore prospecting time is at a premium. A UAV like the one I'm using here can save a lot of time in exploring new areas and or trails to figure the best way to reach a destination. Although the FAA suggest that you do not fly higher than 400 feet, for gold prospecting with your aerial drone this is not an issue. This is because most of the time you're going to be using the gold prospecting drone at an altitude of 25 to 50 feet so you can get a sharper look at the underlying terrain. This old gold area is about 10 miles west of Yuma, AZ., just north of Hwy 8. Like many gold prospecting areas, there are quite a few active claims located here. So, before you go on any gold prospecting trip you should check with the Bureau of land management to be sure that you are not trespassing on an active gold claim. Also, keep in mind that areas like this can easily get well over 100° in the spring and summer. That fact, and the abundance of open mine shafts and rattlesnakes, really don't make it a place to take young children or pets. For that matter, it always pays to go with a couple of people and vehicles if possible. Once inside mountain ranges like this and canyons most of the time you will not be able to get a cell signal. This is another reason why you should never go alone and always bring plenty of water. To see additional photos taken on this gold prospecting trip and or to get more information on where to purchase this drone at the best possible price be sure to visit our very popular California gold nugget site. ********** PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AUDIO ONLY ********** At 9PM on Saturday (yesterday) an air ambulance helicopter called Mercy Air 21 was 15 miles west of Las Vegas when the pilot noticed an strange object ahead of him. He was wearing a night vision visor which allowed him to see the object in better detail. When he told the control tower, they respond saying they saw nothing on radar. Balloons do reflect radar waves and can be seen on radar if a cluster of them are together or they are silver reflective material, but this one sounds big, it should have been visible regardless of the material it was made from. The pilot and control tower can be heard on the recording describing the large unlit round object at about 7,000 feet. Helicopter pilot: "Just to advise. It looks like I have some sort of object over the southern hills area. It looks to be about 7,000 feet. It could be a balloon or something along those lines. Its just unlit so be advised. Control Tower: "Ok. Uh, I'm not seeing anything in that area, but its not to say, like your saying theres something out there." Helicopter pilot: "Yeah, I can only see it...I got the night vision goggle on. I can only see it through the goggles." Control Tower: "Well thats awesome." Located in Wabuska Nevada (Lyon County) This was the site of a large copper smelter in what's known as the copper belt in the area. It was a large site at one time with homes, stores and post office. This was shot in 2013 on a rather windy day with two of my camera copters. You can see some lateral (yaw) movement on the camera because of the conditions we were having but I don't like to leave footage tucked away and this is a piece of american history that should be in the public. I do have plans on a re-shoot this upcoming spring.

Press LIKE if you agree to KEEP OUR MINES OPEN. Entering the mine @ 2:38 SDME explore the amazing Delamar Mine in Nevada. Delamar was primarily a gold mine founded in 1889, and soon the town's population reached 3000. Gold ran out and the town became just another great Western ghost town. Only building remnants remain, along with miles of underground abandoned tunnels and shafts. We attempt to connect different sections of the mine through many levels. Dual sport offroad motorcycle ride from Nevada City to Downieville. This was captured using an Innovv C3 action camera that has a dash cam mode. I have provided details for how to mount this on my F800GS motorcycle here: http://www.stephenfischerphotography.com/Motorcycle/motorcycle_corner.html For this ride I was on a Suzuki DRZ400S, but the concept is the same. This ride starts on N Bloomfield road near Highway 20 and 49, heading north to cross the south fork of the Yuba River. From there it forks on the Grizzly Hill road to Tyler Foote road. Crossing the middle for of the Yuba at the Tyler Foote Crossing we ride all the way into the old mining town of Alleghany. After going through Hell's Half Acre we reach Pilocene Ridge road. The goal was to take Galloway street (which is really a steep dirt road) down to Downieville. But this road was blocked due to snow and a fallen tree, so we headed west on Pilocene Ridge rd and took Mountain House road toward Downieville. On the way we also stopped at another old mining town: Forest City. After reaching Highway 49, we took this east into Downieville to refuel and lunch. Next, leaving Downieville, the goal was to reach the town of LaPorte, another 20 miles to the north near Quincy via Saddleback road. But we got stymied about half way near Saddleback mountain due to another large fallen tree, marking the turnaround point for the ride. After another break at Downieville, we headed back to Nevada City via the twisties on Highway 49. The total ride distance was 114 miles, starting at 8:30am, and getting back to the trailer at 3:10pm. It should also be mentioned that shortly before reaching the turnaround point at Saddleback Mountain I ended up crashing, after my front wheel washed out in a rut filled with loose rock. The motorcycle gear did its job and I didn't even get scratched. The bike came down on the left side, twisting the position of the handlebar guard and clutch lever and mirror on the bar. This was fixed easily enough by manually twisting it back. But the extra stress ended up stretching the clutch cable just a tad, requiring an adjustment to get the friction point back to where it should be. The starter kill switch on the clutch also got tweaked temporarily causing it to block the starter from working. The bike bump started fine after clearing out the flooding condition, but I was able to restore back to normal after straightening and loosening of some of the cables on the left side of the bar. All this took about 15 minutes before being back on the trail. For those interested in the Google map of the route, I have posted the tracks from my Garmin 600 GPS here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RmIl9GQeHoKwQ9GDgudJhH8k72M&usp=sharing

A trip to the CGC claims with friends to do some Colorado gold prospecting and dredging at 10,000ft in the high Rockies. Onsite, Dash demonstrated his mercury retort which he sells and simple gold smelting with an acetylene torch. We had all sorts of dredges running up there, I didn't get everything on video. My 3" Proline, a 3" Keene combo, a 3" "frankendredge", a 2.5" Dahlke Micro, a 2.5" Proline Combo, another 3" Keene combo with the big boy long tom, and a 2.5" Keene. Lots of fun! Much gold was found and there was ice on the pans most mornings in August followed by snow later on.

As you can see, exploring and documenting abandoned mines takes a fair amount of gear… I have tried and rejected many pieces of mine exploring equipment over the years and, in the past, I have always wanted something else or been less than satisfied with a particular piece of gear. However, this exploring season, I finally feel like I have the perfect mix. There is no piece of gear I am unsatisfied with and no gear I feel like I am missing. So, the time was right to share what I have learned. I’m sure everyone will have their own gear preferences, but this is the mix that works for me. Below are links to the products featured in this video in case you want more details or wish to purchase them for yourself: Sony DSC-RX100 digital camera (1st generation in this series): https://amzn.to/2wl4RSu Sony DSC-RX100 II digital camera (2nd generation in this series): https://amzn.to/2N6CCyi Crane-M camera stabilizer: https://amzn.to/2NaIBSR GoPro Hero 5 camera: https://amzn.to/2PrPhNP DJI Mavic Pro (drone): https://amzn.to/2Bz8nP7 I actually found good prices on Amazon for the Coast lights. So, it is no longer necessary to call the company directly. Coast HP550 (the handheld flashlight I used up until this season): https://amzn.to/2OXmQGB Coast HP10R (the rechargeable handheld flashlight I am now using): https://amzn.to/2nXnmJ2 Fenix HP30R (the rechargeable light on my helmet): https://amzn.to/2BBXyfe Petzl helmet: https://amzn.to/2o0b6ri Garmin 64s GPS: https://amzn.to/2Li6FS1 Motorola MS350R 2-way radios: https://amzn.to/2OYyYqN Anker PowerCore portable charger: https://amzn.to/2LfuEB2 Macurco O2 Meter: https://amzn.to/2LgXj8S BW Technologies H2S Monitor: https://amzn.to/2ByXXPu Chest Waders: https://amzn.to/2w0xll4 Bear Grylls insulated water bottle: https://amzn.to/2PvwMZ1 The topo maps app I talked about (for Android phones): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atlogis.northamerica&hl=en Heckler & Koch https://www.heckler-koch.com/en.html ***** The machete was a custom job by Adit Addicts: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIXOU8aR7o50X6q2wQ0wbCQ I didn’t bother to include a link to the walking stick I use because any one will do. You can even literally use a stick. The bicycle gloves I purchased at Lidl for something like 6 euros. Any cheap bicycle gloves will do. Other stuff I didn’t include because it is so general, but that you should definitely bring on any mine exploring trip are things like sunscreen, a first aid kit and someone that knows what they are doing. The gear displayed in this video is what I use for exploring adits and inclined shafts. Vertical shafts, which require technical climbing equipment, are a different beast entirely and merit their own video focused on ropes, harnesses, etc. We’ll cover that at some point in the future. Certain situations call for equipment that we have just used once or twice like a ladder, a chainsaw (for clearing downed trees on an old road), extra gas cans for a trip to an exceptionally remote part of Nevada, etc. As these are essentially one-time deals, I didn’t include them, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Again, if there are any questions that are left unanswered by this video, please let me know and I’ll do my best to answer them. ***** #ExploringAbandonedMines #MineExploring #AbandonedMines #UndergroundMineExploring
