Gondwana Coal Gondwana coal makes up to 98 per cent of the total reserves and 99 per cent of the production of coal in India. Satpuras, denudation [weathering + erosion] has exposed coal bearing Gondwana strata. The carbon content in Gondwana coal [250 million years old] is less compared to the Carboniferous coal [350 million years old][Almost Absent in India] because of its much younger age. Gondwana coal forms India’s metallurgical grade as well as superior quality coal. The Damuda series (i.e. Lower Gondwana) possesses the best worked coalfields accounting for 80 per cent of the total coal production in India. 80 out of 113 Indian coalfields are located in the rock systems of the Damuda series [lower Gondwana Age]. Coking as well as non-coking and bituminous as well as sub-bituminous coal are obtained from Gondwana coal fields. Anthracite is generally not found in the Gondwana coal fields. The volatile compounds and ash (usually 13 – 30 per cent) and doesn’t allow Carbon percentage to rise above 55 to 60 per cent. [It requires few million years more if the quality has to get better. Remember Gondwana coal is 100 million years younger than Carboniferous coal]. Gondwana coal is free from moisture, but it contains Sulphur and Phosphorous. These basins occur in the valleys of certain rivers viz., the Damodar (Jharkhand-West Bengal); the Mahanadi (Chhattisgarh-Odisha); the Son (Madhya Pradesh Jharkhand); the Godavari and the Wardha (Maharashtra-Andhra Pradesh); the Indravati, the Narmada, the Koel, the Panch, the Kanhan and many more. Distribution of Gondwana Coal in India First coal mine was opened in 1774 at Raniganj in West Bengal. Coal industry was nationalized in 1973-74. [The present government made some serious changes during the last year by allowing private sector to play a bigger role in coal production]. India is now the third largest coal producer in the world after China and the USA. Coal industry provides employment to nearly seven lakh persons. Gondwana Coalfields == exclusively found in the Peninsular plateau of India. Classification of Coal in India On the basis of the age of coal formation, coal reserves in India can be classified into two types – Gondwana and Tertiary. Gondwana coal is mainly found in the river basin of the Damodar, Mahanadi, Godavari and Wardha. Most of the coal of India is of this type. The coal is very old and is of much better quality and includes the coking and non-coking bituminous coal. More than 90% of the total coal reserve and production in India is of Gondwana type. The Tertiary coal is younger in age. Tertiary group mainly includes two types – sub-bituminous and lignite. The Tertiary coal has low carbon and high percentage of moisture and sulphur. Gondwana coal fields i). These mines are the main producers of coal in India. ii). These are more than 200 million years old. iii). These produce good quality of coal. iv). Gondwana coal occurs in Damodar valley, the Godavari, Mahanadi, Son and the Wardha valley. Teritary Coal fields i). These are the minor producers of coal in India. ii). These are only 55 million years old. iii). These produce a poor quality of coal. iv). Teritary coal occurs in the north eastern states of Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. According to quality (carbon content), the coal may be divided into following classes: 1. Anthracite: It is the best quality coal and its carbon content is as much as 92% with a low volatile matter and very little moisture. It is hard and heavy and burns with great heat. 2. Bituminous: It is also of good quality coal next to Anthracite. It’s carbon content is up to 85%. Coal mined in India, is mainly of bituminous type of Gondwana age. 3. Lignite: It is inferior quality coal, full of moisture and volatile matter. Its carbon content is less than 50%. It is also known as ‘brown coal’. 4. Peat: It is the first stage in the formation of coal. It is light and woody and has poor heating capacity. Gondwana coal makes up to 98 per cent of the total reserves and 99per cent of the production of coal in India. Satpuras, denudation[weathering + erosion] has exposed coal bearing Gondwana strata.

धरती के अंदर तेल और गैस के भंडारों का पता कैसे लगाया जाता है? How to find oil and gas? Link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsgYLbhCUaA #gold #Gold_in_India #Gold_mining Some people cover their cars with Gold, some wear clothes made of gold wire, someone designs Gold their mobile , there are many people in the world who use gold in different way. women of India are also addicted to gold ornaments. people had bought gold to hide their money. But do you know how gold is formed inside the earth? What are the ways to find Gold? How Gold prepared? From which places of India does gold come out? Which countries is the largest gold source? How the gold came inside the earth or how? Humans would never have got the chance to be ashamed of gold. Millions of years ago when the earth was being built. Along with these extraordinary conflicts, billions of tons of molten gold and platinum fell into the center of the Earth and became part of its crude. But today the human race has become so clever that he is in search of everything and is in the process of getting it. So something like this Gold come on earth and today its prices are high. How to find Gold in Under Ground ? So this work happens in the same way as the oil and gas deposits in the ground are detected, in which ground penetration radar (GPR) is used to find out what is in the ground. In fact, it records the physical properties of the soil such as density, magnetic properties, registration, on which the graph is prepared and it is estimated that the core analysis is done under the soil, then the core analysis is done. Drilling it under the ground and removing a little debris and analyzing it. It gives accurate information about what is below. Apart from this, hidden property, metal, i.e. gold, silver, copper etc. are detected through VLF technology. For this the waves are sent within the ground. Once after hitting these waves, the VLF receiver creates an electromagnetic field around that object and produces a sequestration by collision the special metal. This kind of survey is carried out by the team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Geological Survey of India (GSI). There are 7 different ways to find gold. 1) break the rocks by exploding 2) Milling of stones 3) the process of wetting sand 4) process of cyanide 5) Amalgamation 6) Flotation So by this process, you can guess that finding gold is a very difficult task, this is the reason why gold prices are so high in the market. Gold is very solid and it is very difficult to actually make ornaments. Usually gold is found either in the form of alloy with either pale or silver or alone. It is also found in the form of Calvarites, Sylvainite, Petjite and Cranerite ores. And the gold which is extracted from the mine is in the form of ore, which is absolutely pure gold. Which places of India are extracted gold? Most of the production of gold in India is in the state of Karnataka, where gold is extracted from the mines called Kolar, Hutti and Uti. Apart from this, gold is also extracted from Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand's Hirabuddin and Kendraakocha mines. If we talk about a mine of Jharkhand, then about 4 grams of gold is extracted from a ton of stone and on average, 7 kg of gold is extracted from a mine here every year. The biggest gold mines in the world. In which Kimberley mine is in Africa, after Grasberg mine which is in Papua, Carlin Nevada mine which is in the US, weladero mine which is in Argentina and the writer's quarry is in Papua New Guinea. 5 countries that produce the most gold or produce gold. 1. China which has been ahead in gold production for many years, China produces 426 tons of gold in about a year. But his government has seen a decline of 6 percent in the past year due to the efforts taken to fight pollution and increase environmental awareness. However, due to the excavation of several mines in existing projects, this year's production is expected to begin. 2. Australia Australia produces 295.1 tons of gold in a year. The mineral industry is more than half of Australia's total exports and generates about 8 percent of GDP. 3. Russia A large part of European gold comes from Russia, which has been increasing its production every year since 2010. Russia produced 17 tons more than last year, And Russia produces 270 tonnes of gold every year. 4. United States America also pulled 8 tonnes more gold this year compared to the previous year. Where the production was supported by Project Ramp-up in the Long Canyon Project in Nevada and the Hail project in South Carolina. And the United States produces 230 tonnes of gold every year. And about 78 percent of the US gold comes from Nevada alone. 5. Canada Fall of a glacier in north British Columbia in Toronto, Sebrija Gold stumbled upon an important golden area and estimated to be estimated at 780 metric tons. Canada produces 175 tons of gold every year.

Energy resources have been a very important contribution in the development of human civilization. the changing times, uses of energy also change. now we use petroleum energy, coal power, gas energy, solar energy and electricity. But do you know how the stores of gas and petroleum energy are used, which we use most. And why are they deeper than water in the ground floor? How is petroleum and gas formed and how long does it take? how to find the oil and gas under the sea and the ground? And why are they found in deep depth in the land? How you made? And how long does it take? also know which places where oil and gas are found in India? it is very expensive to find oil and gas, so it is very important for the searchers to find out where the oil and gas are present. how the oil and gas formed inside the earth or how? crude oil and natural gas is formed in millions of years by the destruction of vegetation and marine life and chemical processes inside the Earth. why oil and gas are also lower than water? oil and gas are found in Arab countries such as Iraq and Iran. because there is no water in the ground. Whereas in a country like India, due to high levels of water, oil and gas are found in deep depth. how to find oil and gas under ground or under sea water? The data that is received after this is analyzed with the help of a super computer by the geologist. Which shows how much gas and oil reserves are available on any exploration site. After this, crude oil and gas mines / wells are dug at that place. In India, the work of data analysis is sent to a lab located in Hyderabad. There it is decided that there is no oil and gas and if so how much quantity? And in the same year, the government has approved to explore the reserves of oil and gas in the Siwan district of Bihar. is called "Seismic Exploration". With the help of this technology, the beginning of finding oil and gas started after 1859. Seismic waves are left in the water to help find oil and gas in the water. rock, oil and gas and hit back with the seismometer / hydrophones in the ship. This data is collected and here the geological analyzes of this data with the help of supercomputer. After which they find out the amount of gas and oil reserves present in the amount. The process of extracting oil and gas is started at the same place. How long does it take to search for oil and gas? entire process takes about a year. You will be impressed by knowing that with the help of this technology, bats search for their prey, and by this technique, the doctor gathers information about the health of the child born in the womb. If the geologist's estimation of some place goes wrong, then the refining company may have to suffer a loss of millions of rupees. Now we will know the history of oil and gas in India. oil was extracted from Assam alone, but after that excavation of mineral oil was started in Gujarat and Bombay High. Oil and gas are found below the ground and under the water of the sea, which we talked about, today 26 such basins have been traced in India, from which there is adequate possibilities of getting oil and gas. Gujarat: In the state of Gujarat, Khambhat and Ankleshwar are important areas, whereas the oil sector is expanding at places like Navangaon, Kosamba, Sunnd river valley, Kadi, Olpad, Hardana, Dholka, Mihasana and Kallol. Oil was excavated in 1958 for the first time in the Khambhat oil field. Oil has been detected in Eliabet Island, 45 km away from Bhavnagar in Saurashtra. According to the Oil and Natural Gas Commission, Gujarat has 500 million tonnes of oil reserves. Maharashtra: Bombay High area is spreading about 2,000 sq km away from the coast of Maharashtra, which is also an important oil field, from which oil is being received since 1976. Currently, mineral oil is being excavated from Godavari river valley area. It is estimated that 1250 million tonnes of oil reserves are available here. Assam valley: Assam Valley is India's most important and ancient oil field. Here the first year was discovered in 1837 by an officer in the oil. Here, about 800 oil wells have been digested in Digboi, the major oil fields of the region, in which Bappa Pang, Piatola, Haspapang etc. are very important. Apart from this, oil is also extracted in Badharpur and Patharia in the valley of Naharkitia, Hargiyan-Moran and Surma river. In total, total 500 million tonnes of oil reserves are estimated to be in Assam. The Sunderban region of West Bengal, Kisanganj and Raxaul areas in Bihar, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Barmer districts in Rajasthan, the area of the Kaveri river valley and the Bay of Gulf and the Andaman Nicobar islands. The first mineral oil refinery in India was established in 1901 in Digboi, which used only 5 percent of the total demand of India till independence. But at present, the total number of refineries of mineral oil is 14, which yields only 17% of India's total demand.

Since its inception, ONGC has been instrumental in transforming the country's limited upstream sector into a large viable playing field, with its activities spread throughout India and significantly in overseas territories. In the inland areas, ONGC not only found new resources in Assam but also established new oil province in Cambay basin (Gujarat), while adding new petroliferous areas in the Assam-Arakan Fold Belt and East coast basins (both inland and offshore). ONGC went offshore in early 70's and discovered a giant oil field in the form of Bombay High, now known as Mumbai High. This discovery, along with subsequent discoveries of huge oil and gas fields in Western offshore changed the oil scenario of the country. Subsequently, over 5 billion tonnes of hydrocarbons, which were present in the country, were discovered. The most important contribution of ONGC, however, is its self-reliance and development of core competence in E&P activities at a globally competitive level. Today, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) is, the leader in Exploration & Production (E&P) activities in India contributing 72 per cent to India’s total production of crude oil and 48 per cent of natural gas. ONGC’s quest for energy goes deeper than setting new benchmarks in deep-water drilling in the Krishna Godavari Basin or finding new frontiers of energy. Global decline in crude prices notwithstanding, we have taken significant investment decisions diligently and aggressively, reversing the production trend in offshore. And now we are venturing into deeper offshore plays in our quest for energy security. It is this journey that has placed us among Fortune “World’s Most Admired Companies” and ranked us 3rd in the E&P industry globally on the Platts Top 250 Rankings 2014. Here I have tried to clear basic concept of Dip and Strike terms with animation os seam, apparent dip, and true dip is also introduced in this video. This is also important in Winning and Working Geologic structures are usually the result of the powerful tectonic forces that occur within the earth. The strike is defined as the direction of the line formed by the intersection of a fault, bed or other planar feature and a horizontal plane. A strike is a compass direction on a map view. The dip is defined as the angle at which a planar feature is inclined to the horizontal plane. The dip is perpendicular to strike and measured downward. When a vertical cross-section is perpendicular to the strike of the beds, the inclination is seen in the cross section is called the true dip. Any angle of dip other than the true dip is called is called an apparent dip. And the direction is called apparent dip direction. The amount of apparent dip is always less than the true dip. The true dip always one of any bed but the apparent dips are many. If you have any doubt regarding this topic, comment below. You can subscribe our channel for more updates "MinVideo" at YouTube.

The glacial melt waters that sustain hydro power in Bhutan are also a potential source of destruction. Communities in Bhutan's Punakha-Wangdue and Chamkhar Valleys have been living with the threat of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOF) due to the rapid rate of glacial melting resulting from rising global temperatures. These areas - populated by emerging townships, hydropower plants, infrastructure projects, and farmland - could suffer extreme human and economic devastation should a glacial lake flood occur. In fact, a glacial outburst flood ripped through the village of Punakha in 1994, leaving 21 dead and destroying a year's worth of crops. "Even today I don't like to go near the river because I'm very afraid of another flood happening," said Sonam, a horseman who survived the catastrophic glacial lake flood. UNDP is supporting the Government of Bhutan by bringing long-term glacial lake flood risk reduction plans into existing disaster prevention policies and practices. Among the achievements of this Global Environment Facility initiative is the construction and installation of a new automatic GLOF Early Warning System. The system includes sirens, automatic water level and weather stations. In addition, a flood warning control station, linked to Bhutan's flood warning system, is monitored 24 hours a day and shares water level data with neighboring Assam and West Bengal states in India. To complement the early warning system, awareness raising activities have been conducted to over 2,500 people from vulnerable communities, schools, government and religious institutions so they are better prepared for any impending disasters. The effort also provides employment. Every year from June to September, approximately 200-250 people trek to Thorthomi glacial lake to increase controlled water drainage from the lake using pickaxes and shovels. As a result, pressure from the melt water has been reduced on the thinning moraine dam. "In the Himalayas, this is the first time this work is being done," says Yeshi Dorji, Director General, Bhutan Department of Geology and Mines. "Quite a lot of countries like Nepal, Pakistan, India are observing us and how we are doing and how successful we will be." The overall target of the project was reached when the lake water level was lowered by five metres. While initial surveys conducted before the beginning of the project have predicted a GLOF event from Thorthomi Lake as early as 2010, the project has successfully managed to avert this disaster. A recent survey of the project's impact on awareness and response capacities of the local population has revealed that 90% of GLOF-prone communities are already aware about the efforts of the project, and will be benefiting from the services provided by the early warning system even beyond the project lifetime.
