What is OFFSHORE FUND? What does OFFSHORE FUND mean? OFFSHORE FUND meaning - OFFSHORE FUND definition - OFFSHORE FUND explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. An offshore fund is a term which generally refers to a collective investment scheme domiciled in an offshore jurisdiction. Like the term "offshore company", the term is more descriptive than definitive, and both the words 'offshore' and 'fund' may be construed differently. The reference to offshore, in the classic case, usually means a traditional offshore jurisdiction such as the Cayman Islands, Jersey or the British Virgin Islands. However, the term is also frequently used to include other corporate domiciles popular for cross border investment structuring, such as Delaware and Luxembourg. In the widest sense, offshore is sometimes used to include any type of cross border collective investment scheme, and popular fund domiciles such as Ireland may be included within the definition of offshore, notwithstanding their substantial size as a country. Similarly, although the reference to fund can be taken to include any sort of collective investment, within offshore jurisdictions themselves, the term offshore fund is often limited to purely open-ended investment funds (i.e. a fund where the investor can redeem his investment during the life of the fund) where the investment is by way of equity (rather than by debt). This is often because closed-ended investment funds (where the investor cannot redeem out), and funds where the investment is structured by way of debt, are not normally subject to the usual regulatory requirements for investments funds, and so are not treated as funds in the stricter sense of that word. Although the term is often used as a simply descriptive one, many onshore countries have specific definitions in their legislation or their tax codes for when an investment is treated as an offshore fund. For example, in the United Kingdom see the Offshore Funds (Tax) Regulations 2009, and in the United States see section 871 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Most developed offshore jurisdictions provide a broadly similar regulatory regime in relation to funds formed in their country. Typically, the regulatory regime will take a two tier approach, making a distinction between funds which are offered generally to members of the public (which will require a high degree of regulation because of the nature of potential investors), and non-public funds. Non-public funds are usually either categorised as private funds or professional funds or some equivalent label. Typically, investors in non-public funds can be assumed to be sophisticated because of the nature of the offering – there may, for example, be a high minimum initial investment, say US$100,000, and/or a requirement that investors establish that they are "professional investors" (although some offshore jurisdictions allow investors to self-certify this). Alternatively the fund may be designed for a small and select group of investors and the constitutional documents will limit the number of investors, say to no more than 50. Although most offshore jurisdictions permit funds to obtain licences to operate as public funds, the onerous regulatory requirements associated with such licences usually means that only a small minority of offshore funds are available for subscription by the general public. Most offshore domiciling of funds tends to be regulatory driven rather than tax driven. The relative absence of regulation relating to leveraging and investment strategies in offshore jurisdictions encourages higher risk funds, such as hedge funds, to form themselves in those jurisdictions. Typically the offshore jurisdiction in which a fund is incorporated will not impose any direct taxation on the income of the fund. Nor will it impose any withholding or similar income taxes on distributions by the fund to its investors. However, this does not normally operate to exempt the fund from taxes which may arise as a result of its investment activities in other countries. So, for example, if a fund former in the Cayman Islands realises a capital gain on trade in New York, it will still normally be liable to U.S. capital gains tax in the usual way. Similarly, if a person domiciled in the United Kingdom invests in a Guernsey fund, they will still be liable to taxation of income and capital gains received under British tax laws (subject to the rules on remittance of foreign earned income), notwithstanding the absence of any taxation imposed in Guernsey.

Mebane Faber: "Global Value: How to Spot Bubbles, Avoid Market Crashes, and Earn Big Returns"

59:40
Investment bubbles and speculative manias have existed for as long as humans have been involved in markets. Is it possible for investors to identify emerging bubbles and then profit from their inflation? Likewise, can investors avoid the bursting of these bubbles, and the extreme volatility and losses found in their aftermath to survive to invest another day? Over 70 years ago, Benjamin Graham and David Dodd proposed valuing stocks with earnings smoothed across multiple years. Robert Shiller later popularized this method with his version of the cyclically adjusted price-to-earnings (CAPE) ratio in the late 1990s and correctly issued a timely warning of poor stock returns to follow in the coming years. We apply this valuation metric across more than 40 foreign markets and find it both practical and useful. Indeed, we witness even greater examples of bubbles and busts abroad than in the United States. We then create a trading system to build global stock portfolios, and find significant outperformance by selecting markets based on relative and absolute valuation. Meb will also speak about 13-f research, and "hacking the hedge funds". Mr. Faber is a co-founder and the Chief Investment Officer of Cambria Investment Management. Extended Transaction Financing - 90-Day Funding - Oroton's ETF Program

04:23
Are you in need of financing for longer than 3 days? How about up to 90 days? With our Extended Transaction Financing ("ETF") program, distressed real estate investors may acquire a property, rehab it, and resell it to maximize their profit. Working with REOs? Dealing with seasoning issues? Oroton's ETF program provides the bridge funding that will allow the deal to get done. Circumstances that might require such extended transaction financing include the purchase of a property that needs refurbishment (rehab project) to maximize its resale price or have a stipulation or agreement in place between the investor and the seller in the original sale that prevents the resale for any duration. Extended transaction financing will be provided to qualified distressed real estate investors who are able to purchase from the bank and/or distressed primary market at or less than a specified percentage of the retail price discovery point and have a qualified buyer locked in place for the property after said refurbishment or time frame has expired. Oroton will structure the transaction to ensure that it has ownership control and the right to sell the property upon the expiration of any financing in the event that the investor fails to perform and the transaction expires. Oroton will enter into a preferred profit sharing arrangement with the distressed real estate investor that will provide Oroton with a gross profit per transaction that is dependent on duration and risk. -Funding for up to 90 days -Available only in the NYC tri-state area (NY, NJ, & CT) and eastern portions of Pennsylvania including the Philadelphia area. -Appraisal required for each property -Investor only pays fee at closing with end-buyer -Our funds may leave escrow -Rates start at 4 points for 30 days.

How to invest in bonds

03:44
How to invest in bonds Bonds - funds vs. individual So now that we've looked at attributes of various bonds and other fixed income investments, let's see how you might go about actually investing in them. First, I'd recommend that you limit your fixed income investing to mutual funds, banks or insurance companies. With the exception of US Treasuries, buying individual bonds is generally not a good idea unless you have at least $50,000 to invest in a variety of bonds. Unless you have that much money to put into bonds, you'll lack the diversification necessary to reduce credit risk to a manageable level. Also, the secondary market in bonds for individuals is not very good, so you're better off sticking with mutual funds. You can, however, buy your own US Treasury bonds. You can buy them directly from the US government at little cost. But I'd stay away from US EE savings bonds. These offer poor yields and you can easily lose up to six months in interest if you aren't careful. EE Savings bonds have minor tax advantages, especially when it comes to paying for college, but the rules are complicated and limited to lower income people. Savings bonds just aren't great investments. Bond market is efficient - like a commodity If you decide to use a bond mutual fund for investing, remember that bond funds offer higher yields than banks, but the bond fund will complicate your taxes. See my tape on mutual funds for more information on fund taxation. Also, when investing in a bond fund, don't pay for a so-called hot manager who charges you high fees and justifies these fees by trying to beat the bond market. Bonds and other fixed income investments are largely commodity products. Consider, for example, the US Treasury market. The Treasury market is huge, and all the securities have the same, excellent credit rating. There's no reason to pay high fees for a US Treasury bond fund, yet some funds charge their investors over 2 percent in fees. These investors are simply wasting their money. With US Treasury bonds currently yielding about 7 percent, these investors are giving up almost a third of their income. They could just as easily shift to a US Treasury bond fund that has an expense ratio of only 0.3 percent. Watch out for temporary fee waivers However, especially with money market mutual funds, you need to be careful that the fund's current high yield isn't the product of a temporary fee waiver. To attract new investors, many funds waive their management fees for six months or so. This raises their reported yield, and new money pours in. After the fund has plenty of new investors, the fund raises its fees again back to its old levels. Maybe pay more for junk bond managers About the only time you might want to pay extra for a bond fund manager is in the area of junk bonds. Most investment grade bonds already are rated by independent rating agencies like Moody's or Standard & Poors, so it's doubtful that your bond fund manager can add value by picking out the good credit risks from the bad ones. But junk bond investing is trickier. Here it may pay to hire fund analysts who will dig deeply to discover a company's true ability to pay off its debt. In this case, it's more like trying to find a good stock. Still, you shouldn't pay more than 1 percent of assets to find a good junk bond fund. Copyright 1997 by David Luhman

Mutual funds are often labeled as institutional investors, which are large organizations that purchase a significant number of assets. Common institutional investors include pension funds and insurance companies. As a result, the general process for how mutual funds acquire and spend their resources can be applied to pension funds and insurance companies as well. Investors benefit in a variety of areas from purchasing mutual funds. First, mutual funds allow investors the ability to achieve instant diversification since mutual funds hold a variety of assets within their portfolio. There can be no assurance that the Fund will achieve its investment objective. Investments by the funds in lower-rated securities involve substantial risk of loss and present greater risks than investments in higher rated securities, including less liquidity and increased price sensitivity to changing interest rates and to a deteriorating economic environment. Fixed income securities are subject to interest-rate risk; as interest rates go up, the value of debt securities in the Funds’ portfolio generally will decline. There are certain risks associated with an investment in a convertible bond such as default risk—that the company issuing a convertible security may be unable to repay principal and interest—and interest rate risk—that the convertible may decrease in value if interest rates increase. Shares of closed-end funds frequently trade at a market price that is below their net asset value. Leverage creates risks which may adversely affect return, including the likelihood of greater volatility of net asset value and market price of common shares; and fluctuations in dividend rates on any preferred shares. As a result of political or economic instability in foreign countries, there can be special risks associated with investing in foreign securities, including fluctuations in currency exchange rates, increased price volatility and difficulty obtaining information. In addition, emerging markets may present additional risk due to potential for greater economic and political instability in less developed countries. Investment policies, management fees and other matters of interest to prospective investors may be found in each closed-end fund prospectus. investing 101, investing overview, basics, and best practices

01:30:40
investing 101, investing overview, basics, and best practices. What is 'Investing'? Investing is the act of committing money or capital to an endeavor (a business, project, real estate, etc.), with the expectation of obtaining an additional income or profit. Investing also can include the amount of time you put into the study of a prospective company. income that results from investing can come in many forms, including financial profit, interest earnings, or the appreciation of the asset. Investing refers to long-term commitment, as opposed to trading or speculating, which are short-term and often deal with heavy turnover and, consequently, a higher amount of risk. Intelligent investing is key to building wealth. Investing always contains risk as the business you invest in could go down in value or even close down completely. It is important to research the business and analyze the risk of investing before putting money down. To learn more about how investments generate capital and why an investment might benefit you, read "How Will Your Investment Make Money?" The term investing can also refer to time. For example, you could invest your time in working on a project or mentoring a promising young talent. In both of these situations, the same desired outcome applies as investing money: You're hoping to reap some sort of benefit. This benefit could come in the form of professional success (which can also lead to monetary profit) or the satisfaction of supporting another person. How to Invest? You can make an investment at a bank, with a broker or an insurance company; one can invest directly – via an angel or seed investment in a startup venture – and in several other forms. In many cases, institutions pool investment money from several individuals to make more large-scale investments, such as a majority stake in a company in order to gain more voting rights. Each individual investor can continue to hold a claim on the portion of the larger investment in some cases. Brokers handle orders for many public company stocks in exchange for a fee or commission. If you want to try your hand at investing but don't know where to start, read "Investing 101: A Tutorial For Beginner Investors." Types of Investment While a fixed income investment refers to an opportunity that brings in a set amount of interest income on a regular basis, such a bond or preferred share of a company, investments also take the form of common equity stakes. Both preferred and common company shares are forms of corporate ownership in publicly traded companies. In private equity, forms of investment also include equity stakes; however, these stakes are not traded on a public exchange.

🔴DOW Industrials Inverse Bear Fund

00:44
The SDOW is the inverse of the DOW Industrials. As the DIA or DOW Industrials moves down, the SDOW moves up. The bear funds are in favor when there is profit taking in the market. The market has moved higher with employment and real estate indicators looking quite good. When the stock market starts to get overheated, then profit taking can take place. Interest rates are moving higher and that can have an effect on Home Building stocks. The MACD and the Stochastic are moving down with the Stochastic now below 20. Right now would not be the time to add the bear funds. It is best to wait for a move back higher into resistance areas. A bounce higher in the DOW could occur at any time now.

This is How the Bull Market Ends

01:18:13
Subscribe to stay up to date with the latest videos ► https://www.sbry.co/suBiH Episode 43 – This is How the Bull Market Ends Porter gives one last lesson on the big mistake Warren Buffett is making that could change Berkshire Hathaway forever. Buck breaks down the culture of the FBI and its influence on “Russiagate,” and Porter wonders why successful money managers and business people are often the target of politicians, while real criminals like those behind the 2008-2009 financial crisis just walk away. Buck and Porter welcome Erez Kalir, CEO and co-founder of Stansberry Asset Management. Porter and Erez discuss four specific “mile markers” to watch for that will signal the end of the current bull run in stocks. Erez talks about a meeting with Peter Thiel where the famous venture capitalist reveals what he’s doing with his bitcoin investment. What’s the one stock you would buy if it was the only one you could hold forever? Buck gives his account of the Facebook data breach that erased over $35 billion in investor capital in one day. Is the stock a buy or sell? Porter weighs in. A listener sends in a question about student debt forgiveness and what it would mean to Porter’s American Jubilee prediction. Buck explains the schism between field agents and analysts in the Bureau, and the department we should be watching that’s “just to the right of Karl Marx.” 13:45 Porter says there’s no such thing as a predatory loan – no matter how sympathetic the “victims.” “When I started my business, I’d have been grateful for any predatory loan. (laughs)” 18:30 Before there was Satoshi Nakamoto, there was Milken – the man whose special class of junk bonds were like the Bitcoin of his day. Porter tells the story of why Rudy Giuliani couldn’t let his creation stand and brought the full force of his office down on Milken. 21:07 What do you have to do to earn 370 years of prison time? Buck explains the cloud that’s under Paul Manafort, and the charges he’s facing that carry a far more severe penalty than murder. 24:42 Buck introduces this week’s podcast guest Erez Kalir, who prior to launching Stansberry Asset Management co-founded and led Sabretooth Capital, with $1 billion in assets under management. 25:50 Erez shares his thoughts on the end of this bull market, and why the increase in volatility we’ve seen in 2018 so far is a warning sign. 28:50 Porter gets Erez’s take on the four developments he sees as being the most telling in the stock market today, from the decline of cryptos to the death of Toys R Us. 34:57 Porter explains the art of capital structure, and what it means to position your money based on your convictions. Hint: It goes way beyond just buying equities. 45:08 What to make of the collapse of the speculative bubble in cryptocurrencies – an asset class that didn’t even exist in the last bull market? Porter shares the dampening effect this could have on the stock market. “You’re unlikely to see stocks go up another 20%.” 57:09 Porter asks Erez to indulge in a mental exercise: You can only by one stock, so where do you choose to put all your wealth? “I’m pretty sure my great, great grandkids are going to be using salt.” 1:01:49 Buck describes the scandal surrounding Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, the insidious way they siphoned off people’s person information to a third party, and why it didn’t make a splash in 2012 when the Obama re-elect team openly bragged about this.

No Quick Fix to Greece’s Economy Woes, as Debt Talks Drag On

03:19
In a speech on Tuesday, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said the International Monetary Fund had 'criminal responsibility' for Greece’s financial situation, according to Bloomberg. His comments come as Greece and its lenders remain deadlocked in their debt negotiations. But Dr. Dennis Novy, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Warwick said there is some truth in Tsipras statement ‘in that Greece was really forced to its knees because of the austerity program imposed by the IMF and European Union Commission.’ Novy pointed out the Greek economy went down by 25% since the last peak and that unemployment also stands at about 25%. ‘These are horrible numbers they are Great Depression level and Greece is in a big mess to some extent because of the imposed austerity. So I can understand there’s a lot of anger on the Greek side,’ said Novy. But he added Greece is also responsible ‘for the mess that they’re in.’ Novy added the financial bleeding of Greece will continue, with the stock market down substantially and more people pulling their money out of Greek bank accounts, creating a serious risk of a liquidity crisis in Greece. ‘Even if Greece does get a new bailout package in the next couple of days, this will continue for years and years, because the Greek economy has to recover,’ said Novy. Market Profile Trading: How to Trade a Profile Ledge | Axia Futures

02:52
Watch the full video on a free two week trial at https://www.AxiaFutures.com/ Filmed during a mentored trader training session, Richard talks about an approach to trading a ledge break in the Eurostoxx market on a relatively quiet day. The Eurostoxx was trading within in a tight range, over a period of eleven 30min TPOs, continuing to hit the same price before selling off. This would have been a difficult trade to play on the break of the ledge as it only went 2 ticks on side before losing steam. Richard shares one of his preferred approaches, being a move back through the open after a test of the lower edge of the day's range, and being positioned for an attack of the ledge. The advantage of this approach is at least being able to exit on the break if volume doesn't pick and the market fails to follow through. We are looking for stocks that we expect will move in a predictable direction. We want to take a position with a predefined stop level and profit target. Sounds easy right? In a lot of ways it is. But there are literally thousands of different strategies for trading the market. Every trader has a unique approach to trading. Our goal is to teach you our strategies. I have developed a series of profitable trading strategies for beginners. Our Trading Courses focus on the most fundamental aspects of a successful trade. // Chart Patterns After you understand risk management and proper stock selection, we teach you how to find stock patterns on charts. These patterns are how we base our risk and reward. We look for chart patterns that have well defined areas of support and resistance. We will use previous support levels as our stop price, or our risk, and we look at previous resistance areas as our initial profit target, or our reward. If the profit vs loss ratio is 2:1 we will take the trade. I teach both day trading strategies and swing trading strategies. For day trading we focus primarily on 5min charts while swing traders focus more on daily charts. The patterns in general are the same. I teach traders how to find patterns in real-time including Bull Flags, Bear Flags, Flat Tops, Flat Bottoms, and Rubber Band Reversal Setups. // Trading Strategies Learning risk management, proper stock selection, and chart patterns is important, but those alone don’t create a trading strategy. A trading strategy requires details on the time of day you take these trades, what type of stocks you like to trade, what percentage to success you expect. All our students are required to paper trade and prove to me that they can trade on a percentage of success that is high enough to justify real trading. If you can’t make money in a demo account, you have no business trading a real account. We have saved students hundreds of thousands of dollars by encouraging paper trading while they are learning. The market will be here for a long time to come. The important thing for you right now is to build up the skills to trade the market successfully. You will learn that once you possess the skills to consistently make $20.00/day all it takes to make $200 is larger share size. Then all it takes to make $2000 is again, larger share size. The hardest part is being consistently green just $20/day. So that is our initial target for all of our students. Profitable trading 4/5 days per week for at least 3 months. Dear Investor, I hope I'm not imposing, but I'd like to ask you about your stock portfolio. How's it doing? Win some, lose some? Good days and bad? But sometimes more bad than good? Or maybe you've seen your share of good, but just not as many as you'd like? Now I'd like to ask you another question—What's your strategy like? If you're like most people who are in the stock market, then you don't really have one. For the majority of people, playing the market is a simply a matter of putting in enough money to build a portfolio, then riding it out and seeing what happens. But that's not how you make money—at least not consistent money. I'd like to offer you a method that not only allows you to earn money via the stock market, but let's you do it effortlessly. And perhaps the most exciting thing about it is that it will work for anyone—whether you're a seasoned trader, or completely new to the market. So what's the system? We call it Wall Street Winning’s “Winning Signal”. Designed by a NASA mathematician with more than 45 year of experience creating market prediction tools, this system is a machine algorithm that utilizes artificial intelligence, machine learning, artificial neural networks, and genetic algorithms to predict winners with 80 plus percent accuracy. That might seem like quite a mouthful, but let me put it this way—this is investment made easy. Our automated investment machine takes the guessing out of the market to provide you with the security of consistent monthly income at virtually no risk. So I’m sure your asking how does it work? Simply put, I’m sure you know of the super computer Watson, right? It has proven to beat humans time and time again at any strategy task; for example Jeopardy and Chess. When it is computer vs. human, the computer always wins. The good news is, We too have our own super computer we like to call “Willem”. Every morning before the market opens Willem processes and scans data on over 6000 stocks and ETFS and then processes them through our proprietary algorithms to find the stocks each day that meet the criteria to be considered a Winning Signal. “Willem” then delivers these gems to your inbox daily so that you can take advantage of the trade opportunity.
