For an enhanced narrative, turn on the subtitles. Preorder Imagine The Ultimate Collection at Amazon http://bit.ly/JL-UM-Am The Evolution Documentary reveals the story of the development of the songs on the Imagine album and, on Blu-ray 2 only, the five extra non-album tracks. Sam Gannon (engineer): Each montage chronicles how a song developed from its embryonic form and then evolved as it was recorded in the studio. In our search for bonus material, we listened to demos, all the takes from the one-inch multitrack tapes, and quarter-inch reels recorded in May 1971 by the film crew documenting the sessions at the studio in Ascot. We discovered many moments that, although not long enough to be bonus tracks by themselves, when blended together would help tell the story of each song. The Evolution Mixes are intended to provide an insight into the way that John & Yoko, Phil Spector and the Plastic Ono Band collaborated both inside and outside of the studio environment. By listening to each Evolution Mix, it is hoped a deeper understanding will be gained about the way the songs were crafted. Find out more: http://imaginejohnyoko.com

John Lennon - Crippled Inside (with lyrics)

03:57
"Crippled Inside" appears in Imagine, John Lennon's second album (1971). The album was written and recorded during a period of particularly bad feeling between Lennon and former band mate Paul McCartney, following the 'beatles' breakup the year before and McCartney winning his case in the High 'court to have their legal partnership dissolved. The song "Crippled Inside" refers to a lot of people who may seem "ok" on the outside but they are "handicapped" on the inside because they have so many issues and might be filled with so much hate/apathy/misery, etc. that they can't really live a "full" life. Sort of like the phrase, "Rocking horse people" from "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" where he's referring to people who never get anywhere (because they're riding rocking-horses as opposed to real ones). Lennon was going though a lot of personal issues during that period, including bouts with drugs and dealing with the crap that he and Yoko Ono were taking from people close to him as well as the public at large.

Mother By John Lennon With Lyrics

Mother By John Lennon With Lyrics Mother, you had me, but I never had you I wanted you, you didn't want me So I, I just got to tell you Goodbye, goodbye Father, you left me, but I never left you I needed you, you didn't need me So I, I just got to tell you Goodbye, goodbye Children, don't do what I have done I couldn't walk and I tried to run So I, I just got to tell you Goodbye, goodbye Mama don't go Daddy come home (repeat 9 more times) JOHN LENNON BIOGRAPHY Date of Birth 9 October 1940, Liverpool, Lancashire, England, UK Date of Death 8 December 1980, New York City, New York, USA (murdered by gunshot) Birth Name John Winston Lennon Height 5' 11" (1.80 m) Mini Biography John Winston (later Ono) Lennon was born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England. In the mid-1950s he formed his first band, The Quarrymen (after Quarry Bank High School, which he attended) who, with the addition of Paul McCartney and George Harrison, later became The Beatles. After some years of performing in Liverpool and Hamburg, Germany, "Beatlemania" erupted in England and Europe in 1963 after the release of their singles "Love Me Do" and "Please Please Me". The next year the Beatles flew to America to appear on "Toast of the Town" (1948) (aka The Ed Sullivan Show), and Beatlemania spread worldwide. Queen Elizabeth II granted all four Beatles M.B.E. medals in 1965, for import revenues from their record sales; John returned his four years later, as part of an antiwar statement. John and the Beatles continued to tour and perform live until 1966, when protests over his calling the Beatles phenomenon "more popular than Jesus" and the frustrations of touring made the band decide to quit the road. They devoted themselves to studio work, recording and releasing albums such as "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Magical Mystery Tour" and the "White Album". Instead of appearing live, the band began making their own "pop clips" (an early term for music videos), which were featured on television programs of the time. In the late 1960s John began performing and making albums with his second wife Yoko Ono, as the Beatles began to break up. Their first two albums, "Two Virgins" and "Life With The Lions", were experimental and flops by Beatles standards, while their "Wedding Album" was almost a vanity work, but their live album "Live Peace In Toronto" became a Top Ten hit, at the end of the 1960s. In the early 1970s John and Yoko continued to record together, making television appearances and performing at charity concerts. After the release of John's biggest hit, "Imagine", they moved to the US, where John was nearly deported because of his political views (a late-'60s conviction for possession of hashish in the U.K. was the excuse given by the government), but after a four-year legal battle he won the right to stay. In the midst of this, John and Yoko separated for over a year; John lived in Los Angeles with personal assistant May Pang, while Yoko dated guitarist David Spinozza. When John made a guest appearance at Elton John's Thanksgiving 1974 concert, Yoko was in the audience, and surprised John backstage. They reconciled in early 1975, and Yoko soon became pregnant. After the birth of their son Sean Lennon, John settled into the roles of "househusband" and full-time daddy, while Yoko became his business manager; both appeared happy in their new life together. After a five-year break from music and the public eye, they made a comeback with their album "Double Fantasy", but within weeks of their re-emergence, Lennon was murdered by Mark David Chapman, a onetime Beatles fan angry and jealous over John's ongoing career.

Crippled Inside by John Lennon - Remixed & Remastered

03:50
"Crippled Inside" is a song written and performed by John Lennon from his 1971 album Imagine. The song combines the bleak lyrical content of Lennon's prior solo recording, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, with the more upbeat musical arrangements typical to the rest of Imagine. Lennon would later express his displeasure with the more commercial sound of the album, even going so far as to say that the title track was "an anti-religious, anti-nationalistic, anti-conventional, anti-capitalistic song, but because it's sugar-coated, it's accepted." The song is also noticeably influenced by country music, becoming Lennon's own spin on country rock, which he dabbled in both as a Beatle and later in his solo career.

Get the Audio: http://bit.ly/imagine-ult Get the Book: http://bit.ly/imaginejohnyoko Get the BluRay/DVD: http://bit.ly/ImagineGST-Amazon ⬇⬇⬇ABOUT GIMME SOME TRUTH⬇⬇⬇ John: Side Two starts with “Give Me Some Truth” which is one I started a year or two back - probably in India. We wrote a lot there. It was an old lick that I had around a long time but I again changed the lyrics. I like the track because it sounds good but it didn’t get much attention, so it’s a personal track that I like the sound of. The guitars are good and the voice sounds nice and, you know, and it says whatever it says. George does a sharp solo with his steel finger (he’s not to proud of it - but I like it). It’s about politicians, newspaper men and all the hypocrites of the world. And male chauvinists, it’s about them too. I think that music reflects the state that the society is in. There is nothing to hide. Not really. I mean, we all like to shit in private and we certainly have things we prefer to do in private, privately. But in general what is there to hide? I mean, what is the big secret? I think it’s like this whole game of the press. When the whole drug thing came out about the Beatles, what actually happened was the press cornered Paul one day with the TV cameras and all the press and asked him, “have you taken LSD?” And he said “yes”. And they said, “don’t you think that you have a responsibility to society?” And he said, “yes I do, and so do you, so please don’t publish this or print it.” And they had it on every newscast that night with him saying, “please dont publish it.” Now what the hypocrisy of the press is like, what I was saying about the News Of The World is they’re always going on about other people’s responsibilities and pop stars selling sex to people when they’re the ones keeping the whole mill rolling. They have as much responsibility as us so called ‘stars’ and that was a prime example. There was a famous picture of me in one of the Beatle Books and it said, ‘No phoney politician is ever going to get through to me.” That still stands, although I dabbled in so called “politics” in the late 60’s and 70’s. More out of guilt for being rich and guilty, thinking that maybe perhaps love and peace isn’t enough, that to have to go and get shot or something, or get punched in the face, to prove I’m one of the people. I think our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. And I think that’s what I sussed when I was 16 and 12, way down the line. But I expressed it differently all through my life. I think we’re being run by maniacs for maniacal ends. If anybody can put on paper what our government and the American government etcetera and the Russian, Chinese - what they are actually trying to do, and what they think they’re doing, I’d be very pleased to know what they think they’re doing. I think they’re all insane but I’m liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That’s what’s insane about it. Somebody comes along with a good piece of truth and instead of the truth being looked at, they look at the person that brought it. It’s like when the bad news comes, they shoot the messenger. When the good news comes, they worship the messenger and they don’t listen to the message - whether it be Christianity, Mohammadism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Marxism, Maoism, everything. It’s always about the person and never about what they said. My function in society is to be an artist. The artist’s function is to be as true to himself (and therefore the people he communicates with through his art) as he can, and survive. Art is a functional part of society. If you don’t have artists, you don’t have society. We’re not some kind of decadent strip show that appears on the side. We’re as important as prime ministers or policemen. Register to Vote. If you register to vote, it doesn’t mean you have to vote. At least you have it. And then if there’s somebody around that you can believe in, you’ve got that vote. But if you don’t register and it comes, and you wanna do something, you’ve missed it. Because there’s one inch in which we breathe differently between the two parties. And everybody’s saying they’re all the same. They are all the same, but there’s one inch in which they let you breathe. Find out more: http://imaginejohnyoko.com

John Lennon - It's So Hard (+Lyrics)

02:29
Lyrics in here. "It's So Hard" is a song written and performed by John Lennon which first appeared on his 1971 album Imagine. Shortly after the album's release, the song was released as the B-side to the single "Imagine." The lyrics of the song describe Lennon's attitude towards life, that though things are hard and sometimes you "feel like going down," "you got to live, you got to love, you got to be somebody," and so forth. It demonstrate's Lennon's prankster streak with its double entendres ("it's so hard" and "going down"). The song, when taken into context with "Imagine" or some of the other overtly political tracks on the album such as "Gimme Some Truth," could be heard as having political connotations, saying that one must rebel against the clear-cut lines drawn by the government to live their own lives and to love. The saxophone break comes courtesy of King Curtis who played on many jazz and pop recordings of the 1950s and 60s, including The Coasters' 1958 hit Yakety Yak. It was one of his final performances, as he was murdered just one month before the U.S. release of Imagine Klaus Voormann, a longtime friend of the Beatles and designer of the cover for their Revolver album, plays bass on the song. In February 1972, Lennon and Ono appeared on the Mike Douglas Show and performed the song with the backing of the Elephant's Memory Band. Lennon also played the track during a benefit concert at Madison Square Garden on 30 August 1972. ------------------------------------------------------ LYRICS You gotta live, you gotta love You gotta be somebody, you gotta shove But you know it's hard, it's really hard Sometime I feel like going down You gotta eat, you gotta drink You gotta feel something, you gotta worry But it's hard, you know it's hard Sometime I feel like going down But when it's good, it's really good And when I hold you in my arms, baby Sometime I feel like going down You gotta run, you gotta hide You gotta keep your woman satisfied But you know it's hard, it's hard to get hard Sometime I feel like going down You gotta run, you gotta hide You gotta keep your woman satisfied But you know it's hard, it's so hard to get hard Sometime I feel like going down

Oh Yoko ! - John Lennon - Lyrics

04:22
"Oh Yoko!" is a 1971 song, written and performed by John Lennon, that can be found on his album Imagine and the greatest hits compilation Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon. The song was written about his wife Yoko Ono, and features Nicky Hopkins on piano and co-producer Phil Spector on harmony vocal. Lennon plays harmonica for the first time on a solo recording (since The Beatles' "Rocky Raccoon"), and it would also be the last time he used the instrument. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- in the middle of the night in the middle of the night i call your name oh yoko, oh yoko, my love will turn you on in the middle of the bath in the middle of the bath i call your name oh yoko, oh yoko, my love will turn you on my love will turn you on in the middle of a shave in the middle of a shave i call your name oh yoko, oh yoko, my love will turn you on in the middle of a dream in the middle of a dream i call your name oh yoko, oh yoko, my love will turn you on my love will turn you on in the middle of a cloud in the middle of a cloud i call your name oh yoko, oh yoko, my love will turn you on my love will turn you on oh yoko, oh yoko, my love will turn you on my love will turn you on
