01:53:44
The first significant gold rush in the United States was in Cabarrus County, North Carolina (east of Charlotte), in 1799 at today's Reed's Gold Mine. Thirty years later, in 1829, the Georgia Gold Rush in the southern Appalachians occurred. It was followed by the California Gold Rush of 1848–55 in the Sierra Nevada, which captured the popular imagination.

Find out in $400 Million Emerald Mystery and explore the gemstone's colourful history and analyse the different claims over it. Millions of years ago, gold was formed in quartsz deposits by hydro-thermal pressure, deep within the earth. Gold remaining in these deposits is called Gold Bearing Quartz or Gold Quartz for short. It is extremely rare, accounting for less than 1/20th of 1% of all gold found annually. Where is it Found? Gold Quartz is found in underground hard rock mines in the same areas where gold nuggets are found. In Alaska, it was first discovered in 1880 in the town Juneau. Regions of Canada, California, and Australia are also well known for Gold Quartz. Grading: Like other precious gemstones, Gold Quartz comes in different grades. Orocal is well know for having the highest quality authentic Gold Quartz with spectacular patterns of Gold. We grade the quartz on a few different factors being how white the stone is. The brightness of the white increases the value along with the vein of gold. The actual pattern and placement of the exquisite gold vein. In fact that vein is very pure around 23% purity. Authenticity: Some Stores sell man-made imitation gold quartz which is fragile and frail. This leads consumers to believe its natural when it clearly is not. When buying from me you know its authentic coming directly from Orocal the source. Nuggets by Grant offers a 110% money back Guarantee card which is called are certificate of Authenticity. THE ORIGINAL SIXTEEN TO ONE MINE, A PUBLICATION OF THE CALIFORNIA DIVISION OF MINES AND GEOLOGY After a long and colorful history, the renowned Sixteen to One gold mine at Alleghany, Sierra County, was shut down in December 1965. This was only after a long but vain attempt to surmount the difficulties that have beset the domestic gold mining industry since World War II. The production of this, one of California's outstanding mines, is estimated to be at least $35 million in gold valued at $35 an ounce. Much of this total was from small but surprisingly rich ore bodies, one of the factors that enabled the mine to operate until recently. The "Sixteen" was the last sustained commercial lode-gold mining operation in California; Alleghany was the last California community where the economy was based chiefly on gold mining. At the present time there are only a few intermittent prospecting operations in the district. Alleghany is in the southwestern portion of Sierra County, about 40 miles northeast of Nevada City by road. It is picturesquely perched on a narrow bench on the steep canyon slope, at the Tertiary-bedrock contact. The district is located in a belt or zone of high-grade gold mineralization that extends from Goodyear's Bar south through Forest, Alleghany, Chips' Flat, Minnesota, to Snow Point and Washington in Nevada County. This zone was studied in days past by such outstanding geologists as J. B. Trask, Waldermar Lindgren, H. W. Turner, and H. G. Ferguson. The total production of the Alleghany district is estimated to be more than $50 million at actual prevailing gold prices. As in many of California's Sierra Nevada gold districts, much of the earlier production was from placer mines; but since the early 1900's, quartz mines have been the principal source of the yellow metal. In addition to the consolidated operations of the Sixteen to One, other important producers of lode gold in the district have been the Brush Creek, Docile, El Dorado, German Bar, Gold Canyon, Irelan, Kate Hardy, Kenton, North Fork, Oriental, Osceola, Plumbago, and Yellowjacket mines. The Ophir, Rainbow Extension, Ted Star, South Fork, Tightner, and Twenty One, all originally separate operations, eventually became part of the Sixteen. Significant amounts of placer gold have been produced at a number of drift mines, the largest of which were the Bald Mountain, Bald Mountain Extension, Highland & Masonic, Live Yankee, and Ruby; and from small hydraulic pits at Chips' Flat and Minnesota.

Ep.33 SHERBROOKE - Sonora Road Gold Mine

07:05
EPISODE 33: ** SEASON 2017 Opening Episode ** We'll start things off this season with a small abandoned gold mine near Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia. A gorgeous little beauty sitting on a mountainside off Sonora Road. (MORE INFO BELOW) We are a group of Abandoned Mine explorers in Nova Scotia. Abandoned Mine Hunting is somewhat of a cross between the hobby of urban exploration, caving (spelunking), and history enthusiast. If this is your kind of thing, be sure to subscribe so you will always be informed of each new episode. IF YOU KNOW OF AN ABANDONED MINE IN ATLANTIC CANADA, we'd love to hear from you. Send a private message. We may just come and do an explore and episode featuring your site ! ** BEST VIEWED using the YouTube app on a full size SmartTV ** SPECIAL NOTE: While this type of exploration is almost always kilometers back in deep forest, it cannot always be guaranteed that the land we are hiking is public (Crown). These forgotten old mines/claims are almost always over 100 years old. It is also common that most mine workings have some kind of natural cave-in covering their mouth, after nearly a century of erosion. So some explores may involve preparation of clearing that cave-in, and/or dealing with letting spring water (flooding) out of the adits. These facts, along with the inherent danger of abandoned mines, force us to remain anonymous. We are responsible for our own risks & actions (not yours), but be clear we are not promoting this activity. Only showing you what we do. As with any typical Urban Exploration type channel, our faces and commentary will always be masked. If you are seeing an Episode, it means we are already weeks or month(s) finished with that site and never going back. The delay is intentional, as nothing shown here will be in realtime. It cannot be stressed enough - abandoned mines or mine sites can pose a ton of lethal threats. *We are not kids looking for kicks* Keep in mind that our group is made up of responsible adults, each with specific skills, and cross-Canada experience with over 100+ mine walks. Most 10 times larger and deeper than will ever be found in Nova Scotia! Specific research is always done beforehand. Required equipment and backups are a must. While it is indeed possible to safely explore an abandoned mine, DO NOT ENTER A MINE without being experienced, or going with an experienced explorer. If you don't know what you're doing, STAY OUT STAY ALIVE is the best policy. #ExploringAbandonedMines #MineExploring #AbandonedMines
US Mines & Mineral Resources: "United States: A Ten Talent Nation" 1922 American Motion Picture

13:24
Geology & Earth Sciences playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL33B1A9216BB65F7A more at http://scitech.quickfound.net Good overview of mining and mineral resources in the US as of 1922, with many nice film clips and lots of statistics. Reupload of a previously uploaded film with improved video & sound. Originally a public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining Wikipedia license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the earth from an orebody, lode, vein, seam, or reef, which forms the mineralized package of economic interest to the miner. Ores recovered by mining include metals, coal and oil shale, gemstones, limestone, and dimension stone, rock salt and potash, gravel, and clay. Mining is required to obtain any material that cannot be grown through agricultural processes, or created artificially in a laboratory or factory. Mining in a wider sense includes extraction of any non-renewable resource such as petroleum, natural gas, or even water. Mining of stone and metal has been done since pre-historic times. Modern mining processes involve prospecting for ore bodies, analysis of the profit potential of a proposed mine, extraction of the desired materials, and final reclamation of the land after the mine is closed. The nature of mining processes creates a potential negative impact on the environment both during the mining operations and for years after the mine is closed. This impact has led to most of the world's nations adopting regulations to moderate the negative effects of mining operations. Safety has long been a concern as well, and modern practices have improved safety in mines significantly... Mining in the United States became prevalent in the 19th century, and the General Mining Act of 1872 was passed to encourage mining of federal lands. As with the California Gold Rush in the mid 19th century, mining for minerals and precious metals, along with ranching, was a driving factor in the Westward Expansion to the Pacific coast. With the exploration of the West, mining camps were established and "expressed a distinctive spirit, an enduring legacy to the new nation;" Gold Rushers would experience the same problems as the Land Rushers of the transient West that preceded them. Aided by railroads, many traveled West for work opportunities in mining. Western cities such as Denver and Sacramento originated as mining towns. As new areas were explored, it was usually the gold (placer and then load) and then silver that were taken first, with other metals often waiting for railroads or canals. Coarse gold dust and nuggets do not require smelting, is easy to identify and is easily transported. Modern period In the early 20th century, the gold and silver rush to the western United States also stimulated mining for base metals such as copper, lead, and iron as well as coal. Areas in modern Montana, Utah, Arizona, and later Alaska became predominate suppliers of copper to the world, which was increasingly demanding copper for electrical and households goods. Canada's mining industry grew more slowly than the United States due to limitations in transportation, capital, and U.S. competition; Ontario was the major producer of the early 20th century with nickel, copper, and gold. Meanwhile, Australia experienced the Australian gold rushes and by the 1850s was producing 40% of the world's gold, followed by the establishment of large mines such as the Mount Morgan Mine, which ran for nearly a hundred years, Broken Hill ore deposit (one of the largest zinc-lead ore deposits), and iron ore mines at Iron Knob. After declines in production, another boom in mining occurred in the 1960s and in the 21st century Australia remains a major world mineral producer. Into the 21st century, a globalized mining industry of large multinational corporations has arisen. Peak minerals and environmental impacts have also become a concern. Different elements, particularly rare earth minerals, have begun to increase in demand as a result of new technologies...

In which John Green teaches you about the Wild, Wild, West, which as it turns out, wasn't as wild as it seemed in the movies. When we think of the western expansion of the United States in the 19th century, we're conditioned to imagine the loner. The self-reliant, unattached cowpoke roaming the prairie in search of wandering calves, or the half-addled prospector who has broken from reality thanks to the solitude of his single-minded quest for gold dust. While there may be a grain of truth to these classic Hollywood stereotypes, it isn't a very big grain of truth. Many of the pioneers who settled the west were family groups. Many were immigrants. Many were major corporations. The big losers in the westward migration were Native Americans, who were killed or moved onto reservations. Not cool, American pioneers. Mining in the USA:" United States: A Ten Talent Nation" (1922) American Motion Picture Corp.

13:23
Good overview of mining and mineral resources in the US as of 1922, with many nice film clips and lots of statistics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mining Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials from the earth from an orebody, lode, vein, seam, or reef, which forms the mineralized package of economic interest to the miner.

Black Hawk Mining Articles - Silver, Copper Mining could Save Haiti

00:37
http://promotion.blackhawk-mining.com/2012/06/17/silver-copper-mining-could-save-haiti/ Haiti's copper and silver reserves in its hills are now up for an extensive exploitation by a Canadian corporation that has reportedly damaged the neighboring Dominican Republic. Once this mining plan is authorized while Haiti is under foreign occupation, it could practically leave the country without its ecological, cultural and mineral wealth. Moreover, concerns surrounding the mining venture have been raised as the operation calls for the construction of a deep-water port in the northeastern part of the country, posing a significant threat to their marine ecosystem. The biggest water reservoir that is near the mining operations is at constant risk of cyanide contamination, adding to the reports that the firm has been previously accused of destroying Indian archeological sites by using dynamites on mountainsand. Geologists of the United Nations have documented significant pockets of copper and gold in 1970s but at that time, foreigners were not willing to risk their money in an unstable and corrupt country. Surprisingly, it was not after the 2010 earthquake that outside investment was encouraged and investors discovered a good opportunity. In fact, just 2 weeks after the catastrophe, a Canadian exploration company purchased all the stocks of the only Haitian company which has full permits in exchange for an area of land, practically appearing as a scam. Three companies are already considering prospects of mining in Haiti but at present, only Somine has complete concessions to bring the metals out of the area. The said permits for 31 square miles were negotiated in 1996 during the presidency of Rene Preval and which required the company to hire Haitians. According to the parties interested in the mining prospects: "What we're most excited about is that we found some silver which was never really realized before. It's the first silver discovery in Haiti. Part of the reason why it was never really discovered was that historically there was so much copper prevalent — there's a lot of outcropping at surface. The people who did the work before did not do much testing, even for gold. The geology is a little complex for a copper porphyry, but in a good way. The surprises that we're getting are all good ones."

Bitcoin news today: BTC predictions. new crypto coins. gold vs cryptocurrency mining

Bitcoin news today: BTC predictions, new crypto coins. gold vs cryptocurrency mining with http://nakamotojedi.com Meet NakamotoJedi with the latest btc news! In today’s episode: According to Bloomberg, the current volatility of the market is caused by $2 Billion Bitcoin Whale: when it is making a transaction, the whole crypto world is wobbling. Maybe, a famous economist Mohamad El-Erian is to be suspected for this? He sticks to the idea that bitcoin price should be $5,000. And McAfee, on the contrary, forecasts that in 2020 BTC will cost $1 million. Also, McAfee states that soon centralized exchanges will die out. To believe it or no, but MarketWatch is sure – the end of the year is always a prosperous period for cryptocurrency. Just trace the historical data from 2015, 2016 and 2017 – and you’ll see. Three months are left till the end of 2018, and there is still some time for Andrew Keys’s predictions on Ether to turn into reality. The leader of ConsenSys Capital claimed that ETH would surpass BTC in price, but it doesn’t seem realistic now. In the Canadian city of Midland thousands of PCs were hacked, and the intruders demanded the ransom in BTC. The sum hasn’t been disclosed, but it’s probably lower than 850,000 BTC – the most significant robbery in the history of bitcoins. And BitConnect has been considered a Ponzi scheme – American investors were fooled and lost their money. But Indian authorities already know whom to punish for it. Now SEC has a competitor - Crypto Asset Management project which claimed to be the first crypto regulator of asset funds in US. Guys, you are trespassing on the sacred! The best way to protect crypto from fin regulators is to form a powerful community, what Crypto Harbor is actually doing. Little CryptoKitties are going to Opera – these collectibles are now available in the Opera browser. And French FC Paris Saint-Germain are launching their new crypto coins. Mining has always been considered an energy-consuming activity, and probably you remember that one year of BTC mining needs as much energy as Austria or Denmark. But the head of ECB Mario Draghi says that mining gold is not cheaper. In fact, extraction of traditional gold costs $87 billion annually, while BTC mining needs $4.3 billion per year. One more argument is that the market cap of gold amounts to $8 trillion while the market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies is a little over $200 billion. According the expert Tim Draper, the situation will change in 15 years. At the end of today’s episode NakamotoJedi is putting cards on the table. The Industrial Revolution (18-19th Century)

Introduction to some of the elements of the Industrial Revolution, more on this subject to come! The economic developments of the 1800s saw the development of agrarian and handicraft economies in Europe and America transform into industrial urbanised ones. The term to describe this phenomenon would be known as the ‘Industrial Revolution’ and was first used by French writers, but made popular by English economic historian Arnold Toynbee. MOST Mysterious Ghost Towns in the US

10:53
From abandoned mining towns with no more gold, to haunted places, here are 10 Mysterious Ghost towns in the US GET TO DYNAMITE TV AND SUBSCRIBE ! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJf35rv_-9uZiXjOi51t3JQ Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 5. Thurmond West Virginia Once a thriving center of Coal mining in West Virginia, Thurmond was a prosperous place of commerce and businesses along the Ohio Railway. It popped up in the 1880’s in the center of the state and consisted of popular hotels, casinos, banks, schools. It was a fairly well organized city with strict laws on drinking. In 1888 a rail station was built which allowed for tourism in the area and also to carry the coal out of the hills. The population reached a peak of 462 people 1930 but steady downfall would occur not too long after. A popular hotel was burnt to the ground which which had startled much of the population and would finally reach 0 in the year 2000. You can see the contrast between the cities built out in the west and out in the east during this time. There was much more technological advancements and the addition of coal to a city at this period of time would allow them to heat their homes. Surprisingly the city hasn’t received too many vandals and much of it’s past is preserved. 4. Salton Sea Gallons of water were sent gushing into a dry lake bed after a storm caused an irrigation canal to flood and break in the Colorado River. So the Salton Sea is basically lucky to exist in that sense. A resort town was built near this body of water, which became a popular location for boating. Many people once flocked here to soak up the sun, go jet skiing and drive fancy yachts in the booming 50’s and 60’s. Stars like the Beach Boys and Bono would encore this lake, right in the heart of California’s desert. It’s probably now the last place you’d want to go on vacation unless you enjoy putrid odors and some of those boats are left abandoned on this decaying lake.. Not all good things last forever and this place quickly turned into an ecological nightmare due to pesticides and fertilizers from nearby farms and the irrigation system. It’s seen as one of California’s biggest environmental blunders of all time It became much too polluted to sustain life even for fish. The inhabitants quickly fled once the smell of the water became unbearable. To this day, dead fish litter the once popular beaches, leaving a rotten egg like smell that would be enough to scare off any urban explorer and it’s certainly not good for tourism. The size of the lake continues to shrink even in 2017 and the smell of rotting fish will continue to get worse. 3. St Elmo Colorado Don’t forget the rockie mountains also have their fair share of gold as well. And where there was once gold, there are abandoned towns. This places is located in the Sawatch Mountains and features well-preserved wooden buildings from the 1880’s after the gold and silver mines sprung up. The town had a general store, a town hall, 5 hotels, dancing halls and saloons during it’s peak around the 1890’s the resources were mined and not much else was left, the railroad was closed so no one kept on coming here. Some residents seemed to stay until 1952 when the postal service was cut off. If you don’t mind high elevation at 9,961 feet, this might be an enjoyable place to visit and it’s our ghost town with the highest elevation on this list.. It’s also one of Colorado’s maintained ghost towns. 2. Virginia City, Nevada Virginia city grew quickly in the 1850’s and 60’s after the huge discovery of the comstock lode which was a major silver deposit in the sierra nevada mountains,. But once the silver was gone, everyone fled the city. You can actually explore one of our most mysterious ghost towns in the US on google maps. Check out the entire well preserved ghost town of Virginia City, which is also rumored to be one of the most haunted places in the US. Besides some of the modern day vehicles, this place is exactly the way it was over 100 years ago and it’s the most haunted place in Nevada. Some ghost towns are quite as accessible on google maps, and this is one of the more detailed ones we were able to find. Ignore the motorcycles and get a good feel for how historic site would have looked, when miners were sifting the the hills in search of gold. Drop into the Silver Terrace cemetery for a creepy flash from the past!

**PELOSI IN GUILFORD** Mining Connecticut's Gold Coast SEPT 26, 2009

09:44
Representative Nancy Pelosi D-CA, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, visited Connecticut twice in one week to mine for gold. Of course the gold is dollars. Thats the mothers milk of politics. On Friday, September 18, 2009, Ms. Pelosi was the main attraction at a $1000 per plate luncheon in Hartford. Today, September 26, 2009, she attended a similar function at a private home in the rich Connecticut town of Guilford. Both times Speaker Pelosi was met by dozens of protesters, many of whom are dedicated Tea Party supporters and volunteers. The protestors continue to show the citizens of Connecticut, as well as people all over America, that patriotism, common sense and determination are alive and well in Connecticut. In fact, Connecticuts grass roots patriots have set a goal of defeating several incumbent members of Congress in the mid-term election next year. And by golly, they will succeed! The people you see in this video and in the many other videos this reporter is proud to produce, ask for your support and invite you to join them on the picket lines and at the Tea Parties, wherever they are held. There is a revolution underway in America. Today it is a ripple on a beach. Next year it will be a tsunami! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx9lp1aH7gU http://www.dumpchrisdodd.com/index.html http://www.dumpdelauro.com/ http://www.cancelmccain.com/ http://www.rejectreid.com/
