Extract ECM Files - Ubuntu 10.10
install ecm they change the command, so use the new one instead: $ ecm-uncompress What is ECM, and why should I use it? ECM (Error Code Modeler) lets you prepare CD image files (such as BIN, CDI, NRG, CCD, or similar) so that they'll compress far better in programs such as WinRAR. Here's how to use it: Run the CD image file (i.e. filename.bin) through ECM to create an ECM file (i.e. filename.bin.ecm). Compress the ECM file (i.e. filename.bin.ecm) using your favorite compression program. Back up, transmit via Internet, or whatever you normally do with CD images! When you want to burn the CD again, extract the original CD image from the ECM file. Description: prepares CD image files so they compress better The ECM format allows you to reduce the size of a typical CD image file (BIN, CDI, NRG, CCD, or any other format that uses raw sectors). It works by eliminating the Error Correction/Detection Codes (ECC/EDC) from each sector whenever possible. The encoder automatically adjusts to different sector types and automatically skips any headers it encounters. Since the data skipped is nearly impossible to compress with traditionnal tools, the resulting ECM file will compress far better than the raw CD image. Homepage: http://www.neillcorlett.com/ecm/

Homepage: http://linux.bytesex.org/fbida/ NAME fbgs - poor man's PostScript/pdf viewer for the linux framebuffer console DESCRIPTION fbgs is a simple wrapper script which takes a PostScript or pdf file as input, renders the pages using ghostscript into a temporary directory and finally calls fbi to display them. Fasd - Quickly Jump to Recent Files and Folders - Linux CLI
Fasd keeps track of files you have accessed, so that you can quickly reference them in the command line. Fasd ranks files and directories by "frecency," that is, by both "frequency" and "recency." The term "frecency" was first coined by Mozilla and used in Firefox (link). Fasd uses Bayesian Inference and Bayesian Ranking to rank files and directories for a set of given matching patterns. "Frecency" is used as the prior probability distribution, and a simple algorithm is used to calculate the likelihood of the given set of patterns. Website: https://github.com/clvv/fasd

sshfs - Mount Network Share over SSH - Linux CLI
commands used: mkdir ~/Remote sshfs [email protected]:'/media' ~/Remote fusermount -u ~/Remote NAME SSHFS - filesystem client based on ssh DESCRIPTION SSHFS (Secure SHell FileSystem) is a file system for Linux (and other operating systems with a FUSE implementation, such as Mac OS X or Free‐ BSD) capable of operating on files on a remote computer using just a secure shell login on the remote computer. On the local computer where the SSHFS is mounted, the implementation makes use of the FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace) kernel module. The practical effect of this is that the end user can seamlessly interact with remote files being securely served over SSH just as if they were local files on his/her computer. On the remote computer the SFTP subsystem of SSH is used. If host is a numeric IPv6 address, it needs to be enclosed in square brackets.

rsync - Backup and Sync Files - Linux CLI
https://github.com/gotbletu/shownotes/blob/master/rsync_examples.txt NAME rsync - a fast, versatile, remote (and local) file-copying tool DESCRIPTION Rsync is a fast and extraordinarily versatile file copying tool. It can copy locally, to/from another host over any remote shell, or to/from a remote rsync daemon. It offers a large number of options that control every aspect of its behavior and permit very flexible specification of the set of files to be copied. It is famous for its delta-transfer algorithm, which reduces the amount of data sent over the network by sending only the differences between the source files and the existing files in the destination. Rsync is widely used for backups and mirroring and as an improved copy command for everyday use. Rsync finds files that need to be transferred using a "quick check" algorithm (by default) that looks for files that have changed in size or in last-modi‐ fied time. Any changes in the other preserved attributes (as requested by options) are made on the destination file directly when the quick check indi‐ cates that the file's data does not need to be updated. o support for copying links, devices, owners, groups, and permissions o exclude and exclude-from options similar to GNU tar o a CVS exclude mode for ignoring the same files that CVS would ignore o can use any transparent remote shell, including ssh or rsh o does not require super-user privileges o pipelining of file transfers to minimize latency costs o support for anonymous or authenticated rsync daemons (ideal for mirroring)
