How do traits get expressed?

03:18
CBSE class 10 Science - Heredity and Evolution - Presence of genes on chromosomes in male and female gametes, together decide which trait will be expressed in the progeny. In all organisms genes are responsible for transfer of traits from parents to progeny. Every characteristic is linked with two type of genes. By the process of division of chromosomes and formation of gametes to the fusion of these gametes of male and female, different characteristics are transferred from the parents to the progeny. Ocean Energy - Tidal Energy

03:39
CBSE Class 10 Science - Sources of Energy - The Energy from the Ocean can be categorized into three parts : Tidal Energy, Wave Energy, Ocean Thermal Energy. The rise and fall of the water level is known as tide. Tides happen because of the gravitational pull of the sun, moon and the rotation of the earth. Lets understand how electricity is generated using Tidal energy The advantage of tidal energy to generate is 1. Tides are predictable and they happen twice a day. Mendel's experiment | Monohybrid Cross | Law of Segregation

08:08
CBSE class 10 Science - Heredity and Evolution -Mendel's experiment of Monohybrid Cross and Dihybrid Cross with pea plants gave an idea of how traits (characters) get expressed. After Monohybrid Inheritance experiment Mendel gave First Law of Inheritance (Law of Segregation). In Monohybrid cross Mendel found the Recessive Traits and Dominant traits present in the plants. With the help of the Punnett square we will find out why dwarfness was missing in the offsprings in the F1 generation and was present in the F2 generation. Genetic Inheritance - Sex Determination

03:56
CBSE class 10 Science - Heredity and Evolution - In human beings, the sex of new born is determined genetically, but in some animals, sex is determined on the environmental conditions. Number of chromosomes in humans = 46 23 comes from male parent and 23 comes from female parent, so there are 23 pair of chromosomes in which 22 are perfectly paired and one pair of chromosome is sex chromosome. The sex chromosomes are perfectly paired in females and have both X chromosomes whereas in males it is XY chromosome which is not perfectly paired. So through punnet square we will find out there are 50% chance of a female progeny and 50% chance of male progeny. CBSE class 10 Science - Electricity - What constitutes the electricity? Every atom is made up of 3 subatomic particles : Neutron, Proton and Electron. We will find out why two protons repel each other, why electron and proton attract each other with the equal force as in the case of protons, and why two neutrons when released, get attracted with same gravitational force according to their masses. Number of Protons = Number of Electrons Hence the charge on atom is neutral. Carbon and its Compounds | Bonding in Carbon | Covalent Bonds

05:32
CBSE Class 10 Science - Carbon and its Compounds - What is covalent bonding and why Carbon shares electrons? What are Electrovalent and Covalent compounds and difference between them? Atoms can share, gain or Loose electrons to stable their Octates. So the compounds formed by gain or loss of electrons is called as the electrovalent compound and covalent compounds are formed by sharing of electrons. Carbon has an atomic number of 6 and its electronic configuration will be 2 and 4. So to be stale carbon has to either loss 4 electrons or gain 4 electrons. So the carbon shares the electrons with other atoms. So Covalent bonding is mutual sharing of electrons so as to achieve a stable electronic configuration. Hence carbon has co-valency of 4 and will be tetravalent. Electricity class 10 | Heating effect of Electric current

08:24
CBSE class 10 Science - Electricity - The heating effect of electric current is when an electric current flows through a metallic conductor, and it gets heated up. Uses of electricity can be categorized into 3 parts on the basis of different effects shown by electricity 1. Heating effect of Electric current 2. Magnetic effect of Electric current 3. Chemical effect of Electric current Reason behind heating effect of electric current is when the current passes through a conductor the electrons have to face the resistance of the conductor which results in the loss of energy and this loss of energy gets converted into heat energy. We will find out on what factor does the heating effect of electric current depends upon. Magnet, Magnetic Field and Magnetic field lines

08:56
CBSE class 10 Science - Magnetic Effects of Electric Current - What is a magnetic field? How to find direction of magnetic field? are some basic questions that are answered. In this video we will know the different applications of magnet. Magnet is derived from magnetic ore which shows its properties in its raw state. Many important questions about nature of magnet and its magnetic fields are answered. Why magnets attract or repel each other? This happens because of the invisible magnetic fields around magnet. How to find the direction of magnetic field? This can be done by moving the magnetic compass around the magnet. Magnetic field lines describe the nature of magnetic field. Magnetic force is more where Magnetic field lines density is more. Why magnetic compass always points towards north south direction? It happens because of the earth’s magnetic fields. The earth's magnet's south pole is at North pole of the earth and magnet's north pole is at South pole of the earth. Hence the magnetic fields around earth moves from south pole to the North pole. Oersted experiment, Right Hand Thumb Rule

08:27
CBSE class 10 Science - Magnetic Effects of Electric Current - Hans Oersted accidently discovered in 1820 that when the electric current passed in the conductor the needle of the magnetic compass deflected. So, he found out that there was a relation between the magnetic field and the electric current. He concluded that the magnetic field depends on two things 1. Distance of point from electric wire 2. Direction depends on the location of point w.r.t. the wire According to Right hand thumb rule the thumb directs the direction of the flow of current and the curling of the finger gives the direction of the magnetic field. When the current flows in the upward direction then the magnetic fields move in anticlockwise direction and the magnetic field due to downward direction of the current is in clockwise direction.
